Color me indifferent. Star Wars is about space, not melee combat.
Plenty of science-fiction movies feature space ship combat. Star Wars is famous for the light sabers.

An interesting thing to note is that FFG is specifically billing this as a "board game," which may mean that they have now acquired the rights to produce SW board games... previously it was only minis and card games. So there's a chance that something really great in the SW board game arena could come out from FFG, maybe relating to episode 7, or possibly a SW version of TI3 as some have talked about.

So, you'd be interested in something like this ?
Wow! That's unexpected and wonderful. I'll be really curious to see what the setting is. They've done one game in Ravenloft, one in Mystara, one in boring-ass Forgotten Realms. Dragonlance or (highly unlikely) Dark Sun, please?

Gary Sax wrote: People enjoy very different parts of Star Wars, I guess...
Maybe FFG could create campaign scenarios involving plays of Aramda, X-Wing and Imperial Assault to resolve different parts of an extended story arc.

Michael Barnes wrote: How long is it going to be before FFG tries to re-theme Star Wars to be set in the exciting fantasy world of Terrinoth?
It looks more like they're taking some of their Terrinoth games and shoehorning them into Star Wars.
This game probably isn't for me, but I'll be disappointed if Storm Troopers hit on anything easier than a natural 20.

Michael Barnes wrote: Inferno, STFU about a Dark Sun DDAS game...you know as well as I do that would not only be FUCKING AMAZING it's also about as unlikely as this SW game retailing for less than $100.
I just want to play a Thri Kreen druid with daily psionics. Dark Sun has the craziest cadre of races and monsters in D&D. The miniatures alone would be amazing. But yeah, it'll never happen; Dark Sun is way too interesting for the masses.
This will probably turn out to be some tie-in with Tyranny of Dragons, and that's okay.
