Shall We Commiserate: Adventure Time Card Wars

You all know that I despise Magic, and I'm not generally a fan of games that are pure card games. Well, I've fallen in love with Cryptozoic's Adventure Time Card Wars. It's a "lane-based" card battle game. I'm a big fan of Adventure Time and I can't be sure if that's giving me a bias, but I just really like the game.

Has anyone played it, or do you want to talk about other lane-based card battle games?

I've been really interested because of the Adventure Time IP. If you tell me it's worth getting I will look into it. It's cheap enough.

I'm actually interested in it as well, let me know if you do a review. I'd love to know more about it, but I always worry it might just be a shitty tie-in game.

The IOS version is a wholly different animal from the game itself, which is weird.

The card game itself is awesome, though. It's a TCG/Collectible but it's cheap and they sell entire box sets for like 15$ with 2 factions. I'm pretty happy with it.

The long version is that there's 4 lanes, and 6 "landscape" types which match the factions, and a seventh faction which is "Rainbow" and can be played on any. It's got spells, it's got buildings, and it's got creatures.

On each turn you have 2 actions (or more based on creatures/stuff played) and you can spend that many actions to play cards. No hand limit. If a lane has a creature but the other side doesn't, the damage is done to the player's hero (who has a special power, FWIW). Lose at 25 HP damage. Game is fantastic fun.

@Steve: I am an adventure time nut:

If you just stick with the box sets, its a great game with a very thematic tie in.

Once crypto decided to go ccg with it, I lost all interest and traded it away. I know myself too well, and refuse to enter that trap again. I have to put my money where my mouth is and refuse to participate in such marketing, despite how neat the game is.

Its a shame. But I didn't pay for the license.

I don't know how different it is to the actual card game, but I do enjoy the app on my phone.

It's quite different. It's a shame that there's no async play because I'd have loved to play with another F:ATtie
