Announcement from FFG.
Really stoked to see Battlelore Second Edition starting to feel the love now from FFG with some new mini expansions announced even before the first army pack expansions have hit the market.
These new creatures are the first neutral units in the game but a good move in my book. I expect we'll see a lot more coming. Reinforcement packs seem to be the standard model now for many of the FFG games with miniatures.
I haven't been a big Command & Colors fan in the past, but this new edition of Battlelore has really won me over and shot to the top of my list of favourite games at the moment. Really glad I picked it up after wavering on it for some time before buying.

I love Battlelore 2E, but I won't be getting these. I would gladly buy complete-in-a-box armies for six more factions, but releases that support a Heroscape-style bring-your-own-army system do absolutely nothing for me.

I think this kind of shit (along with a build your army points system) is what the command and colors system has always needed, so I'm glad it's getting support and stretching its legs.

The new edition has a good scenario system in place and I enjoy the aspect of selecting a scenario and then piecing an army together that will aid me in achieving my scenario goals. The fun in Battlelore 2ed is that your opponent is simultaneously choosing his own scenario and the combinations can lead to some intriguing encounters. You may have prepped well for your own scenario but find your army is unprepared to contest your opponent's goals. All of these expansions contain new scenarios growing the possible scenario combos exponentially which I'm looking forward to as much as the new units.

Ouch. $15 each is steep.
I understand that they need to make money, and that these sculpts cost a fair amount to produce, etc.
But as a comparison to their highly popular prepainted xwing or prepainted arkham horror figs, the pricing falls a bit short of the reasonable mark.
Not a fan of this type of packaging, but it seems to work for FFG, so who am I to complain? I may not buy them, but there will be a hundred people to fill my space.

It's awful. Disorienting, jumbled mess with some changes for the worse. It's ugly and not much fun to play. Everybody was excited about it for a minute and then it just kind of shuffled off to the IOS pile, which says a lot about it. Could have been awesome.

I've played through the campaign on my android phone and liked it a lot. The AI is a bit too dumb for my taste and it's not as obviously cool as the board game, but quite good.

I'm OK with them. I'd prefer more direct army expansions or new factions but, like D&T said, they're at least coming with new scenarios, new lore cards, and even terrain hexes, so you're getting a reasonable game expansion with each figure. Given the depth and versatility already present in the base game and lists, the next few months should see a lot of play for me as these and the two new army packs arrive.
