I use a wooden case from Hobby Lobby and some foam I cut for my ships, and a couple of organizers from IKEA for the rest. The organizers are only a temporary solution until I can figure out something better.
Seems like getting a single copy of Most Wanted is a popular choice. I was thinking about getting two but I need to do this on a budget.
My storage "solution" literally ran out of space the day I got it since it wouldn't fit the damn cards. I need to find a home for my large and epic crap.
Mmm, another Firespray would be tasty. I'm sort of waiting around for them to release a repaint. On one hand I'm skeptical that they would do this but on the other I can imagine people would be interested. If FFG decides that they can make more money that way then they'll probably do it. Only time will tell I guess.

This suggestion may not work for you, since I don't know your playing habits (scenarios, Epic, supplying others) or neuroses (a place for everything and everything in its place), but you could remove all the scenario/epic tokens to free up some room, and I only locally store tokens that I will reasonably use, like 10 focus/evade, 6 ion/stress/target locks, etc, and just toss them into the same compartment, as they are easy to separate out. Same for bases; I only have 10 in my case. I've never run into a shortage while playing.
I try to keep enough tokens to support 600 pts. But you're right, I still don't need that much. Especially the crit dam tokens I don't even use and those bases - holy shit. I had some delusion that I would be able to keep everything in this. The box looked way bigger when I saw it on the net...
I can get the cards in there, and probably Scum wave, if I ditch the large models to another storage. It's looking like this game is going to have a lot more product for a good few years so this is always going to be an evolution, unfortunately.
The day will eventually come when the landspeeder hits the shark-ramp and I can quit heh...

I don't know about throwing several $100s worth of miniatures in a bucket, but I do keep most of mine in a plastic milk crate. For the most part they are in the little plastic bubbles they come in. I do have a battle foam insert for the core set box that holds all my wave one stuff.
