I don't know what I'm looking at here...

I've mentioned it before on F:AT, and I'll do it again now - Star Wars Risk: The Original Trilogy is one the best Risk games. It may be second only to Risk: Legacy. It's perfect for three players.

FYI, Mass Effect Risk is Star Wars OT risk rethemed. Same game, 1/3rd (?) the price.

A friend who's played at the Star Wars con said this IS Queen's Gambit, but streamlined. Based on the end of Return of the Jedi instead but the same three-play running gear and concepts. He was very impressed.

Holy crap. I thought that looked cool, but wasn't too interested with it being Risk based. But if it also plays more like Queen's Gambit, then heck yeah.

The fuck?!? Where did this come from?! What the hell is going on at Hasbro?

It's like...they were on this really shitty spell for the past several years after kicking ass for awhile. I mean...really shitty. So shitty they couldn't even get out a gimped Epic Duels to make a few bucks, that product just...vanished.

Now we've gotten a Magic HEROSCAPE release, and...this? This thing looks fuckin' beautiful, man!

All I know is that the "Ultra Awesome Black Edition" better actually be purchasable by mortal men without having to give a "Handy J" to Rob Daviau in exchange for a stale pimento cheese sandwich, but only on Tuesdays and only at truck stops just off the beaten path.

Don't take my word as law on this, but I'm betting the street date on this is September 4th. All the new Star Wars toys are coming out on that day. Loopin' Chewie will likely drop on the 4th as well.

I have the day after off already. Doing the midnight release thing because I'm a nerd.

I've played a version of this. I don't know if it's the final version or not. What you're hearing is right, it's ROTJ. You have the fight on Endor on one side, Death Star in the middle, and Luke/Vader on the other side. Cards can be applied multiple ways, so you have to figure out where your attention needs to be drawn.

I think people are going to like it. It's not super complicated, so it can be picked up by casual gamers, but there's enough going on that more experienced players can get something out of it too. The theme is well integrated, and there's a good bit of tension. It's not something I'd buy because it's not really the type of game I need to own and the theme doesn't do much for me personally, but I think it's a solid game.

Note: I never played Queen's Gambit, so I can't really compare there.

I've got Queens Gambit and it's a game that will still be on your shelf when you die, but I still will probably look at getting this (hey, I like getting sets!). Unfortunately it probably won't be a decision I'll need to think about as these games seldom make it across the pond to the UK in great numbers, I would probably have to get a FATie to buy one and post it over for me - Rliyen did this for me for Risk: Star Wars - Original Trilogy a few years back, this time I might have to tap up someone like Pedro Routh.

I'm totally getting this but there are some key things that look different from Queen's Gambit.

1. No amazing 3D palace.
2. The Jedi/Sith duel does not lead to the victor entering another area of the battle. This is one of my favorite parts of Queen's Gambit as you mow shit down with Obi-Wan or Darth Maul.
