FFG Announces - The Cataclysm Expansion

So apparently The Harbinger Expansion was a hint that they were gonna blow up the realm. Good for them. This expansion is going Runebound 2nd Edition on our asses...the new board replaces the the board found in the base game! Nice!

This will be mine at some point. I'm still holding out hope that FFG does some sort of Timescape expansion. At this point, why not? Go nuts and pull out all the stops.

This looks like some weird Fantasy/Post Apocolyptic hybrid setting. Looks like it has elves, knights and taverns, mixed with toxic waste, trash towns, mutants etc... I love weird mis-mashy settings so this is a welcome addition to me.

Does this mean that they're going to release 4 more corner boards for this new realm? That would be some next level type expansion shit right there.

Talisman must sell like crazy to still be getting so many expansions. I think they have a new fella working on the game after John Goodenough left. Seems like they've still got some big plans for the old gal.

I think I'll get this one if it's good. I've been avoiding the 4 corner expansions, but this seem to be a great way to shake things up without expanding things.

With Talisman I think it's a consistent seller.

I dunno...previously Talisman was auto-buy...but this kind of feels like a good stopping point to me. I like the concept, I like the meta-narrative, and I like what is being offered here...but I'm looking at a big Talisman collection already that I don't play enough. Shit, I still haven't even played with the Dragons thing that nobody likes. Plus there's the issue of Relic, which is really almost Talisman 2.0- AND it's more contained with only two significant, impactful expansions to date.

So probably a pass for me, unless I do the review at MM.

Some day I want FFG to finally decide that Talisman is complete. Then I want them to release a Talisman big box with everything they ever made for it. Then I will buy that. Because I love me some Talisman but already have and play 2nd and 3rd editions.

Yeah I don't think's that gonna happen. Where's the "COMPLETE AH"? It's already been quasi-replaced with Eldritch Horror even if they still sell it, but nothing new has seen the light of day in years. Or "COMPLETE RUNEBOUND 2ND ED" or even "COMPLETE DESCENT"? Those have been completely replaced by new editions, you can't even buy the old stuff anymore from them.
I thought Imperial Assault was the death knell for the new Descent, but apparently they're still releasing new stuff for that.
Battlelore was replaced by Battlelore-Westeros which has already been replaced by Battlelore 2.

With a whole new board, I don't see why this isn't a stand-alone expansion/new core.

I wouldn't be worried about Timescape. Its inclusion was dubious in 2nd edition and FFGs take on the game has proven to be both a bit more stable (Dragon exp not withstanding) and at the same time more adventurous overall.

The thing I don't get though...is why this expansion doesn't include the Chainsaw Warrior as a hero. This one looks perfect to bring a new look Chainsaw Warrior back to tabletop gaming. He's a classic hero, who unfortunately hasn't been able to make the jump from the 80s to modern gaming.

Can anyone make out the text on the board? I am curious to what all changed. From the press release the Black Knight is now a player character, but the rest of the spaces look like they just got a graphical update.

No need to include the plastic money, cones, a dozen heroes, store cards, talismans... etc.

I'm covering this for MM, and I'm getting in my first game tomorrow night. Really excited about it.
