7 Ages: Thoughts? was created by repoman
7 Ages by Australian Games Design has been on my mind today.

I only ever played it once a long long time ago and I really liked it but I never had the opportunity to play it again.

Then a long time ago (only one long this time) I was thinking of getting my own copy but the prices were steep.

Now, I see it's going at an affordable rate but....is it worth it. It was published in 2004 and games have come a long way since then. I know it has a huge play time but that aside, how does it compare to games like Advanced Civ or Mega-epic Super Civ or whatever the game Lego has been playing lately is called. Age of Renaissance? Clash of Cultures?

I owned 7 Ages for a while and got 3 or 4 plays out of it. It's really good if you enjoy the rise and fall of civilizations. It's a little like History of the World with a lot more meat in that way. For the length though I enjoy Advanced Civ or Age of Renaissance more. Clash of Cultures is a much shorter game.

7 Ages is still the best big length game available where the rise and fall of civilizations is significant and necessary though. It has a playing through history aspect that all the other civ games lack.
