I wasn't aware this game even existed as of about 3 months ago, but my buddy kick started it and as with most kickstarters you all sort of feel obligated to play because he paid a million dollars and waited for two years to get it. But I have to admit this turned out to be a very fun play I really enjoyed the five sessions that it took to get through all 10 levels.
It's in the GloomHaven mold, but its card work and dice work is significantly different, and I'm pretty sure that I prefer it. I have only played jaws of the lion for a bit as a comparison but I am finding jaws of the Lion more tame, more methodical and not capable of generating the kind of excitement that I have had with adventure tactics. We do a lot of laughing when we play largely because the black dice have such a spread of values on their sides that you can either show up and be bone-crushing, or show up and just fall flat on your face. That makes for some interesting twists and turns in the story that plays out.
