Wow, this games seems to be trying to do everything. I hope they are able to pull it all off. If so, it's going to be AWESOME.

So the heroes only go questing in the summer, that must mean they are full-time teachers right? What other profession allows you to spend your summers off gallivanting the countryside looking for artifacts of incredible power?

Awesome. I am so excited about this game. I like the "adventure light" thing they have going. We'll see if it all meshes together nicely.

I'm curious, will heroes have any affect on battles or diplomacy?

So far, I have been very meh about the previews. The game overall excites me, but the previews for me are a bit lacking, every time I read a preview, I keep hoping that the whole is better than the sum of its parts.

This preview however was just plain awesome. Questing! Wheee.

The scope of this monster is absolutely phenomenal. I hope to God all these different mechanics can blend into a cohesive game. Big AT games like this aren't easy to design. The time involved would be astronomical.

So we have factions, heroes, neutrals, quests, resources, food, artifacts.... it's fucking staggering. The 2-4 players sounds interesting too, I like that. 2 is curious. I think Cory's proven he can be sleek if he needs to be. I was really hoping to see this before Christmas but it looks like January at least.

The end of the preview makes it sound like they'll potentially have the rules up by next week. Then we can see exactly how wide the scope is. That would also make sense considering that the last preview only came out 3 or 4 days ago.

How long does FFG usually put their rules up before releasing the game?

The rules will probably be in the next preview already!

Yes, I mean, how many eurogames have we seen with an amalgamation of 10 different mechanics and criticized for being shitty because of that? The same thing could, perhaps, happen here. But I am hoping for better. I think it looks great.

A month or so, sometimes a bit more if there's an issue (Tide of Iron boards?). Sometimes a lot less, to wit: Sea of Blood is currently shipping to distributors and they just put the rules up.

Don't forget they also promised to unveil two more mystery games in time for the holidays, so they're probably trying to get their RW articles out of the way first.

Somewhere, Quest for the Dragonlords quietly weeps as its niche is finally taken away.
