Arkham Horror the Dice Game

I hate to be a Launius sock puppet but he is my only source of news (get on the stick Branham and Barnes- I'm becoming a one trick pony.)

A few days ago FFG agreed to publish launius' AH dice game design. I didn't playtest this one so my knowledge of the details of the game are incomplete. The jist is that Several locations pop up with challenges on them. The dice are different for each challenge and penalties include going insane, taking damage, spawning new monsters or advancing a doom track. I watched the endgame and everyone roared with laughter as one player took on a particularly challenging roll only to botch it badly- he lost the game, his charaters life and his sanity in one fell swoop. It plays in 45 mins, has many dice mechanics found in similiar games and has a horrific adventury feel.

There is no speculation right now on the time table it will take to get this published.

Huh. One thing I've never thought while playing Arkham Horror is "not enough dice rolling."

Ohhh. I might try this out. Looks like a fast paced version of AH.

Combining Arkham Horror with Can't Stop/Yahtzee? I love it. Will there still be tommy guns?

I was thinking the other day Lovecraft is the soon to be the next Lord of the Rings/Starwars/Pirates/Ninjas.

I've been expecting that to happen ever since the first time I saw a plush Cthulhu doll.

I was joking a while ago about creating an Arkham Horror Express game... thinking that it would be practically impossible to distill that experience into a dice game. I guess if anyone could do it, it'd be Launius. That's cool, though. I'll definitely buy it. Steve, do you know if this is a co-op thing or competitive? It sounds like it might be competitive.

I think the plush Cthulhu was the sign of that happening. Along with all the other "cute" elder god memorabilia.

I'd certainly try it if the opportunity arose, but I don't know if I want an express version of Arkham. I love the whole five hour odyssey.
