Blood Bowl video game

The PC Blood Bowl Dark Elves edition is on sale on Impulse for $20 this week. Is the AI still crap? I know there was a modder working on this; has anyone been able to implement a challenging AI?

A shame. I had some good fun with the DOS version back in the day.

There is currently no update planned for the original edition.

Because if I could play against other people 95% of the time I would do so with the boardgame. Hence the AI is important for me, and the lack of a good one the reason I don't have the game.

I saw the PC version of the Dark Elves edition at the bargain bin at Walmart. It didn't look like it had hotseat capability or I would have picked it up. My wife showed brief interest, but we would only play hotseat style. Does it play like that or is multiplayer just online?

So is it even worth 6 bucks for the PC? That's what it is going for on Amazon right now with prime shipping...

For six bucks, you'll get your money's worth. Heck, you might even get twice that out of it.

The gameplay is BLOOD BOWL. It's all there. The problem is that the product is fucking horrible, the AI is a disaster, and aside from the crap 3D graphics it looks and feels like a game made in 1995. The interface is a nightmare. The tutorials may as well not be there. And there's this weird emptiness to the sound during the game. There's no crowd noise or anything, just the commentators piping in every now and then and a big gong for the turnovers.

It's like a game made in a third world country or something, it's so low budget and sloppily made it's embarassing. A tragedy, because they got the gameplay part of it right by giving you the option to literally play the game as it's written. Too bad they made doing that so terrible.

But yeah...six bucks...I'd go for it.

This weekend it's $10 on Steam, the Dark Elves edition. Tempting, but I've already got way too many games I don't play.

The graphics in Blood Bowl aren't that bad. They're certainly Xbox looking rather than early days of Playstation.

Also in the PC version you can play online leagues.
