Finally you can be a Space Marine instead of a lousy Inquisitor. Looks like a brand new RPG rather than a supplement for Dark Heresy.

Just looking over the description... the RPG smacks of "D&D 4th ed. in space", given the emphasis on sweet wargear / "special-mission" action and the limited scope of roleplaying Space Marines ("Okay, you're all belligerent, brainwashed, genetically-engineered super-soldiers, GO!").

Edit: On the other hand, I was skeptical about Rogue Trader as well and we've been campaigning for a month now. It's actually kind of cool.

Dark Heresy is awesome. I'd much, much rather play an inquisitor than a boring ass space marine.

Yeah, I have no idea why you'd want to run this from an RPG point of view. Space marines fight, are like 9 foot tall and unmistakable and just generally don't have much to do outside of fighting.

Much rather play Rogue Trader or even Inquisitor... I just think that 40K is a tough place to set an RPG in.

I think the appeal is playing a small scale tactical minis game with RPG leveling up. I could see getting into that.

Exactly, but with Space Marines blasting Tyranids and Orks with bolt guns.

I'll be ALL over this, is they don't try and charge me £40 for a fucking rulebook, like they have with Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader.

You know they say one of the definitions of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result … I'm just saying.

Yawn. I'm passing on this one. Shit, you could play a SM in the original Inquisitor, so I hardly think this justifies a whole SEPARATE RPG about it.

Once they cover the other races/armies, let me know. I'd rather play a Tau or an Eldar as opposed to the fucking No-Necked, I'm so hardcore I have campaign bolts riveted into my head, I knows No Fear! Space Pansy.

The true insanity are the source books. £35 for like 100 pages. Doesn't stop me lapping that shit up though.

When GW annouced that they where making a 40K RPG they had said there would be three separate RPGs. Classic GW.

The original (1980s) Rogue Trader and Chapter Approved had rules that where much more RPG based. The 40K universe was much richer and full of possibilty back then. Look for them on dodgy download.

Ahhh, I lost my interest. Might as well make an RPG where you get to be line infantry in World War II.

Speaking of RPGs, my 8-year-old played his first RPG today. Loved it! (D&D 3rd ed.)
