The only game I have that works well with 8 players is Coach Ride to Devil's Castle. Anyone have other suggestions?

Here's the link to my article last month about 8+ player games. Other people added some other suggestions like Shadow Hunters.

For that many players it's going to be tough without going full-on into party games. Even so, lighter fare will dominate.

Saboteur
Memoir '44 Overlord
Jungle Speed
Pitchcar
Wits & Wagers (most trivia games work well with 8, divided into 4 teams)
Cash & Guns with the Yakuza expansion

Technically Arkham plays eight out of the box, but the consensus is that 8 is way past its sweet spot.

I was pondering this exact question, as there was a good chance that we were going to have eight players today:

*Arkham Horror
*Star Wars: Epic Duels
*Nuclear War
*Citadels
*Zombies!!!, if you also have either Humans!!! or the outdoor base set and a sand timer.
*Pit
*Eat Poop, You Cat

I have been trying to get a mega-player game of Battlestar Galactica going at our club but due to diminishing numbers (we haven't had enough people for a 5-player game recently) it hasn't happened.
I was thinking of an 8 player game with either:
- 4 Humans, 2 Cylons, and 2 Cylon Leaders
or
- 3 Humans, 2 Cylons, 1 of the Sympathisers, and 2 Cylon Leaders

And (my even more paranoaic rule) both the Cylon Leader Agenda Decks have opaque card protectors so you do not know which Cylon Leader has drawn from which weighted deck.

I think you would have to extend the game, probably distance travelled and the resources, as well otherwise players, especially those with Agendas, will not have that many turns to get involved in the game.

Once again I must flog WIN PLACE & SHOW! There are only six horses, but the game includes a bidding process before each race if folks want to fight over them. If you have some folks that don't care, they just bet and pull for their babies. I played with my kids the other day and we had a longshot lose by a nose--it was on the last square before the finish line when the round ended, and then just got obliterated in the next one--first to worst in a turn. So awesome.

Shadow Hunters w/expansion works well and is short.

I don't like games with more than 6, so I'd split into two groups of 4, but that's just me. Some situations that doesn't work for so I understand.

Yeah, that's what I'd do with a group of gamers for sure. But it'd be awkward to split this group of 8 in two. I reconnected with a couple old friends a few months ago over games, which led to another couple joining us, which in turn has led to another two. Until the catching up and re-acquainting has run its course I think it'd feel a bit too impersonal if we were at different tables. My hope is that this will eventually spawn another self-sustaining (and meaningful) gaming pod.
