How many DoaM games do you own? Which ones?

When someone asks if a game is like Risk, and the answer is either Yes or Kind Of, it's probably a Dudes on a Map game. So how many DoaM games do you have, and which ones? And which one has the coolest-looking dudes?

I burned out on Risk more than 20 years ago, so the DoaM games that I've got tend to be fairly different from Risk, but still have the basic elements of Dudes, Map, and Dude-killing, plus a basic theme of military-style conquest, taking and holding ground. Here are my DoaM games, in order of favorite to least favorite:

Twilight Imperium
Cults Across America
A Game of Thrones
Blood Feud in New York

However, even though Blood Feud is easily the worst DoaM game in my collection, it has the best dudes. Nobody can resist the temptation to spin the rotors on the black helicopters.

War of the Ring

i guess Twilight Struggle doesn't count. Chits on a Map!

I traded away my El Grande and that was my only Cubes on a Map game.

StarCraft

COAM:

EDIT: actually, Attila has wooden heads, not cubes.

NEXUS OPS
STAR WARS RISK: CLONE WARS EDITION
TWILIGHT IMPERIUM 3E
CHAOS IN THE OLD WORLD
DRAGON DICE
HEROSCAPE (?)
DOOM (?)
DESCENT (?)

It's hard for me to draw the line of DoaM, by and large. Are we talking strategy games like RISK and TI? Or tactics games like HEROSCAPE or DOOM?

Strategy games. Generally a Dude represents a bunch of dudes, and the map represents a larger scale, like a world, a continent, a nation, or at least a city.

None.

I used to have the old GM Axis and Allies and Conquest of the Empire but they were really my brother's copy and I unloaded them on him a couple of years ago because I got tired of lugging them around when I never played them. I also had Galactic Emperor at one point but I got rid of that in an Arms Trade.

I think this is going to reveal that I'm a caveman when it comes to boardgames - me like DoaM games ... but now who's going define DoaM ;-) ... do chit games like Kingmaker, Dune or Gangsters count ? ... how about Cosmic Encounter (no map), or Buffy and Arkham Horror (card standup dudes) ?

My favourites dudes are from Star Wars: The Queen's Gambit Fortress America, which is also my favourite game.

So here's my two-tier list:

Plastic Dudes
AXIS & ALLIES (REVISED)
AXIS & ALLIES: BATTLE OF THE BULGE
AXIS & ALLIES: D-DAY
AXIS & ALLIES: EUROPE
BATTLE MASTERS
Buck Rogers - Battle for the 25th Century Game
DOOM
DUNGEONQUEST
FORTRESS AMERICA
HEROSCAPE
MARVEL HEROES
MEMOIR-44
NEXUS OPS
QUEST FOR THE DRAGONLORDS 2nd Ed.
RISK: 2210
RISK: STAR WARS - CLONE WARS
RISK: STAR WARS - ORIGINAL TRILOGY
SAMURAI SWORDS (SHOGUN)
SPACE CRUSADE
SPACE HULK (2009)
STAR WARS: THE QUEEN'S GAMBIT Boo !!
STARCRAFT
TIDE OF IRON
WAR OF THE RING
WARRIOR KNIGHTS x2

Wannabe Dudes
ARKHAM HORROR
BLOCK & MEGAMANIA
BLOOD ROYALE
BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER
COSMIC ENCOUNTER
DUNE
FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING
GAMMAMARAUDERS
GANGSTERS
FURY OF DRACULA x2
JUDGE DREDD
KINGMAKER
KINGS & THINGS
The OMEGA VIRUS
RIDDLE OF THE RING

Take Two: As the definition is refined my imposters are struck off.

Strategy games. Generally a Dude represents a bunch of dudes, and the map represents a larger scale, like a world, a continent, a nation, or at least a city.

That's a good definition. I also think that tactical combat games like Memoir '44 and Tide of Iron should be excluded, somehow, but I'm not sure how to word that.

I agree. It should be added that in a Dudes on a Map game players control a race/nation/faction and are attempting to eliminate other dudes or conquer land/planets/resources. Games like Memoir 44, Tide of Iron and Commands and Colors: Ancients represent individual battles.

Arkham Horror? Southernman, you have gone senile. That's an adventure game.

On my shelves I only have:
A Game of Thrones
Nexus Ops
Warrior Knights
Risk Godstorm
Axis & Allies D-Day
Dune (?)
Diplomacy (?)

But at my buddy's place, in our common gang collection, there is:
Risk
Castle Risk
Risk 2210
LoTR Risk
Axis & Allies
Axis & Allies Revised
A&A Anniversary Edition
A&A Europe
A&A Pacific
A&A Battle of The Bulge
Samurai Swords
Sid Meier's Civilization

Twilight Imperium 3
and probably one or two others...

My favourite dudes are from Risk 2210, with the cool MOD's and shiny commanders, and the one army in the perfect shade of blue...
