How many DoaM games do you own? Which ones?

I see many people listing "Age of Mythology". It does have a lot of Dudes, but there's no map!
Battles take place outside of the board, and there's no unit movement whatsoever.

SHOGUN has that too, doesn't? The daimyo represents an offboard army as I recall. I haven't that in about twenty years, no shit!

Where is the line between DOAM and Wargame? Do cubes, chits, or blocks count as Dudes? How much territory does the map need to cover?

Nexus Ops is the only one that fits the absolute definition here.

I also have Dune which is a CoaM and Cosmic Encounter which may or may not count (it has units and territories you conquer but it just doesn't feel like a DoaM).

I claim that:

1) block games belong in their own subgenre, and are not DOAMs
2) chit games usually aren't DOAMs, especially those that only work as two-player games
3) some cube games fall into a gray area, just because there have been editions of Risk that came with cubes
4) Wallenstein/Shogun is not a DOAM; nobody calls the cube chute gimmick a "Dude Tower"

Risk 2210
Nexus Ops
A Game of Thrones

That is just perfect in my opinion.

I have a few others that have been mentioned, but I don't consider anything that you are not fighting other players to control areas of the map for specific goals a DoaM game.

Axis & Allies
History of the World
Nexus Ops
Risk
Sid Meier's Civilization: The Boardgame
StarCraft: The Board Game
Twilight Imperium (2nd Edition)
Twilight Imperium (3rd Edition)
War of the Ring

Also Cosmic Encounter and Rise and Decline of the Third Reich, but I'm not sure if they count.

Adventure games and tactical combat games are not DoaM games, people.

Dust
A Game of Thrones
Mare Nostrum + Mythology

I like them all, but sometimes I feel that they're too similar to each other! (even if they're not, really)

Other stuff that has dudes on a map, but not necessarily DoaM:
Chaos in the Old World
Cosmic Encounter
Dreamblade
Heroscape
Summoner Wars

DoaM games are about my favourites. I'm surprised there's not more love for them round here - they seem to have a reputation as being old fashioned, but frankly that only really applies to the old fashioned ones. There have been plenty of high quality modern releases in this genre.

Chaos in the Old World
Cosmic Encounter
Dune
Game of Thrones
History of the World
Horus Heresy
Imperial
King of the Tabletop
Mare Nostrum
Nexus Ops
Oh No, There Goes Tokyo
Shogun
Space Hulk
StarCraft
Titan
Twilight Imperium
War of the Ring

That's about 20% of my collection :)

An awesome genre:

Nexus Ops
Twilight Imperium 3
Starcraft

Huh... Guess I dont actually own as many as I'd thought though. And they're all space DOAM games. Getting rid of my Risk soon for space and I figure if I really need it again I can always buy it at Target.

(EDIT: oh yeah, I "own" A&A from the 80s, but it's my bro's and I'll be returning it to him b/c of space issues)

I will also strongly argue that Wallenstein is DOAM game. Just because the dudes are cubes, it's still pretty darn cut-throat. It meets my criteria of DOAM: map you move around figures representing armies (not individuals). BAM!
