Yes, I did. It didn't help, because everything adheres to the primer, and the primer has a hard time adhering to PVC. So once the primer decides it has had enough of that shit, everything flakes away with it.

Dip it. If you use Minwax Polyshades you can create a hard exterior (think magic shell) that is almost impervious. Way, way better solution than using acryl sprays. It also has the added advantage of acting as a wash to enhance the paintjob!

Good luck!

Thanks.
Yeah, I thought of trying that but not on stuff I painstakingly painted,
maybe only when I just need to shade the plastic as is.

you could also just use a clear varnish ..... like a sealant on hardwood floors. That shouldn't mess up your painting.

Interesting but I don't really buy this as an explanation: otherwise surely Space Hulk would be governed by the same laws?

Thadd mentioned EU laws. Does the UK abide by all the EU rules? I didn't think they did (While I'm generally supportive of safety measures, the EU guidelines/regs on everything from food to manufacturing seem designed to eventually reduce the entire planet to an inert gas.)

well, does the USA abide by all the EU rules? FFG is a US company.
Obviously you have to abide by the laws of the country the game is sold in.
And Space Hulk is translated in French/German, etc, and sold in Brick and Mortar stores all over EU.

I still think Soft plastic is cheaper to make, and ship. And maybe toy safety regulations say that you can't sell hard plastic in toy stores, only in hobby stores.

FFG is a U.S. company, yes, but Nexus isn't and that relationship gets a little murky when it comes to liability and culpability with regulations. US companies wouldn't necessarily have to meet all EU standards for all things, but Nexus would. GW, being a UK company, has its own weirdness. I don't doubt that cost is a (or THE) prime motivator, but I found Thaad's comment about EU regs interesting. That's all...
