So is Cadwallon a stinker?

This game is the one that has me the most exited right now but I've read some negative comments for it. Mainly that all characters have the same stats and there is no stealth represented in the game. I can see how some people would be turned off by these facts but to me they are by no means deal breakers. My interest in this game remains. Has anyone played it? Can someone give impressions?

Absolutely not.

I have posted a number of comments over at BGG about the gaem, and tell you the truth I absolutely love it. Played it yesterday in fact.

I even have a whole post on why there shouldn't be individualized stats, and how the designers opened up the design space by using Special Abilities instead.

Unfortunately it is not a game of stealth, but I don't know if anyone ever said it was supposed to be. It is a game of tactical positioning and some tough decisions. Fighting is constant, and there is a shitload of variability to the game.

I rate the game a "10."

That being said, I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea. It's a medium light game, and I know many like to play the heavier weight games. It will be great for kids, and gamers alike who enjoy a fun romp around the board.

The playtime is pretty short, and the mechanics are pretty steamlined. And of course the production value is really top notch.

Definitely give it a shot.

Dan

Sounds exactly like my cup of tea. I wonder if anyone else here has played it...

I only played it once but I enjoyed it. It is about the same weight as Adventurers. The powers seem pretty balanced. The game is more about positioning than anything else but even that is not a big deal because the luck factor is pretty high. I enjoyed the light decisions and whimsical game play.

Don't listen to the haters- Cadwallon is a fun superfluffy little game for people who don't take themselves too seriously.

Screw it - I pulled the trigger on an ebay auction for this game. The theme and game length seemed too perfect. I'll write my impressions if find people to play it with.

Can we get some more opinions on this? There doesn't seem to be much banter, but it looks great.

Sorry, but my last post was a mistake. I later learned that the listing was for a pre-order and I cancelled my purchase. It was listed as pre-release, so I took it to mean that the seller had bought several copies at Gencon. I'm still planning on getting it.
