Why should I care if WQ gets a re-make? was created by El Cuajinais
Having played HeroQuest and Dragon Strike in my youth (I still own DS) I really enjoyed them both. I sometimes long for a good dungeon crawl game, but never bought into Descent for it being too time consuming. Dungeon Quest and Castle Ravenloft don't interest me much from what I've read/seen. I've heard many people speak very highly of WQ. Is Warhammer Quest all that? In its original version, how long does a game session take?

WHQ is awesome, IMHO. Best Dungeon Crawl ever. It's a full featured crawl, but all the extras like the items, campaign system and leveling, which IIRC are on huge D100 tables, are really amazing.
I haven't played it in years but I wished I still owned it. It is really cool.

No, you shouldn't care. No, WQ is not all that, and no, it's definitely not worth the 100+ bones you'll have to fork over to some greedy eBayer for it.
It's like those, only nobody plays the monsters, and the dungeon is randomly generated. That would be cool, except only one character is allowed to open new rooms, meaning three of the players are mostly there to roll dice and throw in their two cents about what to do. When you do run into monsters, they appear right next to you and start hacking away right off the bat, so combat is pretty much just static, toe-to-toe dice tossing.
I have no idea why it's remembered so fondly. It barely qualifies as a game.
If you really want to play WQ, but are reluctant to part with the money, have a look at Dungeon Plungin'. If you proxy in your own minis instead of printing out their standees, you can probably make it relatively cheaply.
It's pretty similar to WQ, but better in some respects.

WHQ has the most refined and polished system of the GW dungeoncrawls. The detail was amazing. But the gameplay itself was rather lackluster, several bad design choices led to bit of a brainless game which pretty much played itself.
Advanced Heroquest was rough as shit, felt incomplete, but for my money was the better game of the GW dungeoncrawl line.
