WOTC to replace warped Betrayal tiles

Saw this on TOS.
http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/583033/wotc-is-going-to-replace-the-warped-tiles-

Already sent an email to WOTC for mine. I mentioned the character cards, since mine hardly fit in the box anymore and the sliders fall of even easier than they already did. I hope they'll replace those as well.

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I registered on their site and emailed them as well. My character cards are awful.

First there were numerous copies of Ravenloft with missing pieces/sheets/cards and now this. WotC should take a long hard look at their Chinese friends and kick them in the ass.

The lesson, as always, wait for the second printing if you can.

I did mention in the last Betrayal thread here that I called WOTC customer service and they were aware of and were happy to send replacements to me (4-6 weeks til they get here but still).

Just got a email from them.

"Thank you for contacting us. Unfortunately, the product we have on hand to replace these tiles is made out of the same stock as the tiles in your game and may be subject to some slight warping."

FUCK.

FUCK.

"Sorry we gave you a turd. Here's a different turd."

And I'm back to not buying the game.

I think it would be an unrealistic idea to believe they'd replace the tiles with anything other than like tiles; it's not like they're going to put out a ton of cash to replace them with a new, redesigned model.

The question I have is WHY are they bowing? If we can get to that, we can figure out how to stop it. I would guess the bowing is due to either laminating them with the cover sheet too tight, the ink drying too rapidly and stretching the tiles inward, or something of that nature.

If that's the case, I wonder if new customers or those who get replacements before the stock dries up at WOTC can simply spray some acrylic gloss/matte spray over the tiles to seal in the ink, or at a minimum, add some modicum of rigidity.

It's a shame...I really wanted this, but I'm certainly not dropping 40$ on something that will amount to "Tacos: the Mexican Food Game".

That is very strange and totally not what they said to me:

"Thank you for contacting us. I have placed an order for your replacement product; however, there will be a delay of shipment as a new set of straight sheets (tiles) are being printed. It may take up to 8 weeks, but expect them sooner."

I was lucky enough not to get warped tiles, but I have had experience with getting warped parts flat again.

I'm a thrifter, so many of the used games I buy have warped boards and components. The advice I can give, that has worked for me, is to cover the tiles with a towel and steam iron it. When it is flat leave the towel in place and use the iron without steam to dry it. Afterward place a heavy object on them for a few minutes and they should remain flat.

Damn kids. This is how we fixed our warped tiles when I was a kid.

Our tiles were warped, but we didn't care. We knew starving children in Europe didn't have tiles. We were thankful for the tiles we had.

And get the hell out of my yard.
