Despite my attitude being in the "not a fan" kickstarter camp, they've finally got me to make a pledge (Bones project almost got me). I find Napoleon's Triumph to be fantastic and although I don't know a lot about the new design, I can't imagine I won't find it interesting.

Anyway just a reminder for anybody else that wants to pledge.

Note for International Shipping - Which I believe includes TKWYL and anywhere else that's non US or Canada. You'll need to preorder from Histogame as detailed here.

Could you put up a link to the project?

Actual Civil War bullets is certainly the strangest stretch goal I've seen to date.

I'm 99% sure I'll be in. Who knows how available it will be outside this channel? The price (US$70, shipping included) seems entirely fair and reasonable. The Canadian shipping situation is a little dubious, though.

Alaska and Hawaii need to add a whopping $25 to shipping. What are they shipping? Lead?

Given shipping costs these days, that doesn't surprise me. Hawaii AFAIK is expensive for everything, from games to basic foodstuffs - it all has to be transported by boat or plane. And Alaska is basically outside the US for postage costs - there was a thread on BGG a while back that some mail order places were upping their rates to AK as a result even though it is still in the US.

And the prior games in the series were pretty heavy IIRC - all those wood blocks and metal holders add up.

This is pretty much a straight-up preorder with a 30 day deadline. Civil War bullets aren't very expensive and the paper map is dirt cheap. You're buying the game here, or multiple copies at a modest discount. So the two big differences I'm seeing here between this KS and a typical P500 are:

1. About 300 units to clear their goal.
2. 30 Day deadline.

The goal is quite modest. This puts P500 on a short deadline. It gets the scare up and compresses (and focuses) the game's hype cycle to one month. This isn't a game on a P500 list, it's a game on the stage all by itself with a gun to its head. That's the difference between Kickstarter and P500. I'll be curious to see how it plays out.

It's funny they reverted back to the old cover. There was a huge outcry over on BGG over a proposed redesigned one. To be honest though, it did suck.

I've sworn off kickstarter, but decided to back this. Proven track record of the designer, plus possibility of not being able to get it later swayed me. As you say, basically a pre-order.

Two of us in the Baltimore area are interested. If we get two more from the neighborhood, we can get the $240-for-4 price, which will drive the price down to $60 a pop.

If anyone near Baltimore wants in - and is willing to drive to pick up their game - send me a PM.

Is there a module, or do we have to beg Joel for one?

Maybe I could get off my lazy ass and figger one out. I've been known to use a computer from time to time.

But definitely in. Looks like mine gets here on the 12th, which means I'll have time to see the UPS guy drop it off before I go on vacation for a week. Doh.
