Dia die Los Muertos....(imagine that I just posted the 14 pages of disclaimers that are now required, and get on with life.)

Of course, Twilight/Jekyll and Hyde would be my other choice.

If I'm playing a card game, there is usually trick taking involved.

Moo,
Frank

Bohnanza has achieved classic status, imo. However this is another Euro that, like Settlers, a lot of the Euro fans won't pull from the shelf anymore. Too interactive I guess.

Meuterer is the card game I really wish I could play more often, but nobody else around here wants to. The few times I have been able to play it I saw a lot of potential for strategy and simple fun.

Four Dragons is my preferred partnership card game that doesn't use a standard deck of cards. Full disclosure: I've never met Frank and owned this game before F:AT even existed.

Boomtown I only played once and it was a bad experience due to a fun-murdering asshat. However, I like the game in theory.

Good call on meurter. I *love* that game. We play with poker chips to speed up the cashing out process. It has a lot of substance and really feels more like a board game than card game.

Four Dragons is the tightest trick taking game I've ever played, with every card being a really difficult choice. Unfortunately I am horrible at trick taking games.I mean abyssmally incredibly awful. I have never had a more withering look than playing Dia de Los Muertos(the previous incarnation of Four Dragons).

One of my favorites is Res Publica. It only works if everyone understands how to state trades (Either "I have" or "I need" with up to one conjunction.) Part of the fun of the game is figuring out with sets people are going after through the cryptic trading. The other part of the fun is angling for the best trades. The game gets a cold shoulder in a lot of circles but I've had a ton of fun with it.

Hey, wow, that purple Kool-Aid I've been giving folks around here is paying off.

Next thing you know, I'll have Barnes raving about how good Dominion is.

Industrial Waste is my choice.

Go ahead and tell me its not a card game...

Look into my glowing, red scanner eye.

I *love* Pick Picnick. It has negotiation, screwage, dice-based combat, and poo cards! It's a fucking fantastic game that works great with kids.

EDIT:

Oh, yeah. Industrial Waste is not a card game.

Condottiere is a great game and so is Battleline. Battleline is a little too abstract but approach it like a poker variant and its great fun.

Turn the Tide (has another name I can't think of too) is a good one that gets no press.

I'm not sure if it would be considered a euro card game, but a pretty good underrated trick taking game is Victory and Honor ..There is a lot more going on than your typical tricks and a lot more player interaction.

I'll put in another vote for Meuterer. Well actually, I've only ever played Verrater, but I guess it's the same basic thing... Or if not, then what's better/different about Meuterer?

A card game filler I like is Saboteur , which has hidden roles and some nice bluffing and misdirection elements. I'm not sure it's "underrated", but I don't think it's as well known as it might be.

Ooo Good Call. I've played both and like Mueterer a bit better. With Mueterer you have the both VP from being captian and from economic goods. It is a GREAT game.

Verrater is good too. I've only played twice and my memory is a bit fuzzy.

I like the SETTLERS card game too. I haven't played in years, but I wasn't soured on it by any stretch. I hear good things about UNSPEAKABLE WORDS, too. Anyone played that?

UGH! AVOID IT! With the exception of the Cthulhu minis this game blows.

Battleline & Colossal Arena for me.

Battleline/Schotten Totten are both good. And for some reason I'm unbeatable.

I also like Coloretto and Poison.

It's been bagged on some here, but I liked Cold War: CIA vs. KGB. It has a lot of bluff and double guessing, and some fun push-your-luck elements.

Dia de los Muertos and Victory and Honor are good. My votes go to Glory to Rome and Masquerade.
