I alluded to playing this in my blog. Man it looks great with killer box art and a neat theme. It shone like a beacon amidst a bunch of euros about developing ancient cities. I was eager to give it a try and my bud Mark Zohhgby had already played it onece and liked it. Opening the box I began to get a bit worried. Lots of the same symbols rpeated over and over and no indvidual characters- you can move any adventurer to score points. Still there were some pits and whirlpools on the board...maybe it will be ok.
No. It will not be ok Steve Avery. You have entered a 45 minute card management game that will seem to take hours. I haven't been sucker punched this bad since I bought Time Pirates. Actually the card play wasn't awful- just plain boring. Its a combination of spending move and item cards to navigate on the board. Move an adventurer to the correct space and you can pull a treasure card.
The thing is, this could have been great. A neat and novel theme, some interesting card play. Oh the humanity! All is not lost though, I hear game Z (from Jolly Roger)has pirates and dinosaurs fighting in the lost world.

gaming is in the eye of the beholder. What for him was a pleasant family game was a boring waste of 45 minutes for me. we both agree on one thing though
yeah 45 minutes too long.

My biggest worry is that the game can last a bit longer than it should.
