Diamond Club

Diamond Club was created by Stephen Avery
Another Euro I played was Diamond Club. For some reason, I kinda enjoyed this one. The premise is that everyone is wealthy dilletants filling their gardens. You buy fountains , trees, greenhouses ect. The gameplay is place money (bids) on a resource and collect the prize. Voila! Well there is a bit more to it than that- it is a combination of creating contracts (A ship + contract+ Gem) instant discounts (get more money aka bids, get extra gems from contracts, make stuff score more, ect.)placing money near other bids cost more so there is a bit of screwage there.

The second phase of the game is spending games to fill your garden. Each item takes a different combinations of gems. It sounds pointless and it is. But thats what i enjoyed about the game. it was kind of mindless fun scoring stuff and buying up things that your friends need. I definately won't buy a copy but wouldn't mind playing it again. The only thing I didn;t like was scoring. It had that "Bonus points for scoring the most buildings", "Bonus point for three of a kind" ect. That 'extra scoring' stuff always bugs me. Score everything- and make sure you get just the right combinations of stuff for optimal scoring- Bah!

Admit it Avery, you thought it was gonna be about a strip club.

It was sort of "meh" for me. I thought it felt very Goa-esque.

Speaking of games about "clubs". I just received a box of games in the mail from Fred Dist. today to promote at Game Days / Trashfest. There was a fewer not to bad older Euro filler games like High Society, For Sale and Gem Dealer. But one game caught my eye because of the drunken big breasted women on the cover, a new game called The Club .

Back cover description: Welcome to The Club. It's Friday night and lonely hears are seeking fun (and love). The Club is where people meet under strobe lights on the dance floor. In the glimmer of the disco ball, emotions rise and fall and this game won't end until desires are satisfied.

Note: This game was rated PG-15. Gamers are strongly cautioned that some material in the game may be inappropriate for you gamers due to mature theme and suggestive content.
