Best 'trade light / high interaction' euros?

I've seen the underrated light and the overrated lists form here, and when I looked up many of the games in the underrated list they seem to be heavy on the 'trade' element.

The more I play them, the less I like trading games. I do however like high interactivity. To me trading is not a 'fun' way to interact in a game, especially if it is the core mechanic or source of interactivity.

What Euros are fun to play and have high interactivity where 'trading' isn't the driving method of interactivity?

Perhaps "negotiation"? See Intrigue, Quo Vadis?, Traders of Genoa (borders on trading), Chinatown (likewise), and, my favorite, Die Haendler.

But my favorite is "conflict". E&T, Domaine, Evo, Ursuppe, and Tempus are all on my top 20.

I love primordial soup and Tigris and Euphrates.

Definitely add Imperial, El Grande (I might get bashed for that one), Power Grid, End of the Triumvirate, Glory to Rome, Mr. Jack, Struggle of Empires, to the list. A couple of those I'm not even sure if they count as euros, or if they are waros/weuros/whatever.

This topic is sort of my specialty now, since I started to hate low-interaction Euros. My favourites are Tigris & Euphrates, Tempus (try before you buy please), Settlers of Catan, Attika, Carcassonne (if you play it that way), Imperial, Modern Art, Ra, Samurai and Taj Mahal.

PF, you aren't suggesting princes of florence?

Just razzing you man... glad to see you here.

I love Ra, but I'm not sure I'd describe it as "interactive". Although I suppose it matters whether we're talking about direct interaction or what I'll call indirect interaction. You can definitely do things that affect the other players in Ra but you aren't actually interacting with them like you do in Tigris & Euphrates or Traders of Genoa.

We must play it differently. Whenever a Ra comes up at an interesting time someone in the group turns into Bob Barker and tries to pressure everyone into bidding on it. We play it up, I guess.

That's outside of the game though. Part of the meta-game I guess. Other games have interaction built into them as part of the game. And even Bob Barkering the auctions I'm not sure I'd describe as "high interaction". Although I'd certainly describe it as fun. ;-)

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll do some investigation into them.

I'm delighted that no one mentioned RFTS or Puerto Rico. :)

Domaine - no trading, tons of competition for limited space at the start, which leads to direct conflict as you take over each others' kingdoms later on.

I would recommend Manila, which is a pretty light game. It has a pretty strong shot of luck involved, and some definite screwage with the pilots. It's best played with people willing to take stupid risks, and not with calculators.

It's been one of my favorite Euros lately.

I don't know how I missed that one... Manila rules. Two thumbs up.

It is really light--but there is no trading with bidding and mind games: For Sale. It is very light, but also pretty fun, in my opinion.
