Now that Kickstarter has been around for a while, people should have had the chance to play some Kickstarter games by now. What is the best Kickstarter game that you have actually played? And how did it compare to your favorite non-Kickstarter games?

I think Kickstarter is really good for reprints, no games that have been funded have blown me away. Eight Minute Empires is probably the best I've played, it's a quick area control and set collection game. Agents of Smersh is probably next, I prefer Arabian Nights, but the change of scenery is nice. Really looking forward to playing Galaxy Defenders though.

The Duke is an awesome game. We have been playing it at the office quite a bit lately.

I agree with this.
Great:
Speculation
Glory to Rome
One Night Ultimate Werewolf

Good:
Euphoria
The Resistance
Flash Point: Fire Rescue
Sentinels of the Multiverse

I have very little experience in this realm. I've played Zombicide season 2, Alien Frontiers, and Dungeon Roll.

Alien Frontiers is the best of the three.

if we are talking true KS games rather than reprints, i'd go with Flash Point or City Council being the best KS games I've played.

Of these two Flash point is the really stand out title. I don't really go for coop games, but i would consider calling this the best I've played. It is certainly very well produced which makes it an exception in KS designs. City Council is a euro semi coop with hidden objectives. Its a clever and evocative way of presenting the local politics theme, but it lacked a little in play testing. City Council is a game that whilst good actually gives me a bad impression of KS. I wonder if this game had been printed by a publisher, Rio Grande, Stronghold etc, it would have been play tested and tightened up a little.

on the whole i think the established publishers have produced better output than KS over the past few years. This isn't really surprising in many respects though.

alien frontiers is the gold standard. Resistance is great, but it's not so much a "game" as a social experiment in game form, although it's a fun one. For a "pure game", it's Alien Frontiers for the win.

D-Day Dice is fucking stupid. I mean, I feel dumber even thinking about how dumb it is. And that's what most of them are. To me, the best use of Kickstarter by the "gaming community" has everything to do with production value over the game itself. It allows games like Zombicide (read: Smash TV, the boardgame) to exist...all flash, no brain. The insipid secretary hired by the skeevy old perv because she's 22 and DD-cupped, despite her inability to form a coherent sentence or type faster than 10 WPM (7 misspellings) on anything other than an iPhone.

I forgot about Flash Point being a KS game. That is one of my favorite co-op games.

I'll add that I thought The Agents was a really cool 3-4p card game, but the components bothered me so much that it put me off of playing the game.

I've only played three:

Zombicide sucked.
Walk the plank was mildly amusing and quick.
Sedation Wars: Albastor Station, I only played it once, but it was a cool dudes in a hallway game, with some unique ideas.

In all three of these games, the rules were incomplete and fuzzy.

DICE AGE -- Doesn't exist; complete debacle.
FEALTY -- Fine for what it is, but too brainburning for the house. Nicely put together.
CARNIVAL -- Zzzz....
GLORY TO ROME -- Awesome.
ACE DETECTIVE -- Not what I was after. I am going to have to roll my own to get what I want from a storytelling game.
REAPER MINIS -- Fucking sweet.
GLAMAZONS -- Greatest game? or greatest game?

--other crowdfunded stuff--
ZOMBIES, RUN -- Never got to implement this, but I hear it's well done.
HOWLER -- Soccer enthusiast market aimed at NA. Pretty awesome, actually.
10-YEAR HOODIE -- Fucking great.
POLAR PEN -- Delivers this month, looks amazing.
FROG FRACTIONS 2 -- Exclusionary!
WEIGHT HACKING -- Not yet delivered, but pre-print PDFs were helpful so far.

Yeah, I forgot about this one...it's a really good, well-designed game. My only real bitch was the tokens...they were HORRIBLE.
