Yeah, I forgot about this one...it's a really good, well-designed game. My only real bitch was the tokens...they were HORRIBLE.

Agreed. I may pimp the game with cotton poofs for the smoke and translucent flame counters.

Two that just stood out for me are Eight Minute Empires: Legends and Boss Monster.

Both I feel exemplify what Kickstarter is about with both feeling honest and true in their design (in other words not over-manipulated by a publishing house to force in creative, innovative or clever mechanics) and would never have been printed going through a traditional method via a publisher.

They aren't great games, but they are accessible, approachable and I have gained a lot of enjoyment out of them and both are on my forever shelf.

I've only kickstarted one thing and that is the Belfort Expansion but I haven't played it yet. I can't get into the idea of kickstarting anything else. I like finished, reviewed products personally. Some friends of mine seem to kickstart everything though and honestly only 4 games have stood out to me as being good but not necessarily great. There are probably games I've played that I didn't realize were kickstarted too, I don't follow them all that much.

1. Eminent Domain (the best of the 3)
2. Glory to Rome (could be great but I've only played once.)
3. Kings of Air and Steam. (I'd rather play Railways of the World any day)
4. Empires of the Void (not bad for a space 4x style game, I'd try it again)

In comparison, non-kickstarted games (as far as I know) that blew me away on my first play.
Twilight Imperium 3rd edition
RuneWars
Railways of the World

Tammany Hall and Manhattan Project are probably the two best I've played so far- Tammany Hall was probably the best game I played last year and is on my forever shelf.

Hoping to get A Study in Emerald in play tonight, and it looks to be pretty good.

Glory to Rome, Resistance, and One Night Ultimate Werewolf are good.

The only pure "Kickstarter original" I think we've kept that I would recommend trying is Ground Floor. It's basically a worker placement euro where you have to build up your company with advertising, producing, marketing, and selling. It has a modern-day theme that actually works and worker placement that doesn't suck, which is why we've kept it and enjoy it.

Dungeon Roll is "cute", I enjoy it from time to time.

That's not the kind of pimping it needs...

i'd forgotten about Manhattan Project, that is another game that meets the real publisher standard.

Does Guns of Gettysburg count? I feel that game is super-underrated (although Napoleon's Triumph is better).

I've Kickstarted my share, but have to say - hands down; Dreadball has been the best. Five of my gaming buddies and I backed the whole bloody thing in 9/12, and we've been playing it non-stop since it delivered in 12/12. Great sports league title. I adore all things Blood Bowl, but Dreadball plays much faster and that's a huge positive with my group.

Zombicide 1 and 2 - Meh.
Dungeon Roll - Meh.
Zpocalypse - Ugh.
OGRE - seriously? Meh.

Waiting on Coconuts! and the countless mini games from TMG

Alien Frontiers showed that action drafting could be done without a massive VP accumulation objective... and did it with lots of interesting and innovative mechanisms. Hats off to them. It's got blemishes, but it deserved the shot over many other of the published worker placement games, and that includes LoW times ten.

It was designed by James Mathe, a "real publisher" (Minion Games).

Bought retail, Flash Point: Fire Rescue and 1775: Rebellion are both great. Omen: A Reign of War is also real good (I have the 'Olympus Edition', which was only available thru Small Box Games' website). D-Day Dice is okay, not great.

Actually backed on Kickstarter, Small Box Games' offerings have not disappointed. Academy Games also publishes quality games; I backed Freedom: The Underground Railroad, and will definitely support Conflict of Heroes: First Men In when it goes live. I enjoy Indie Boards & Cards' Haggis, Coup, and The Resistance: Avalon.

Crash Games, Dice Hate Me Games, Gamelyn Games and Tasty Minstrel Games have put out some decent stuff. Stonemaier Games always runs a professional project. I think Boss Monster is pretty good. Haven't played Galaxy Defenders, Lost Valley or Nothing Personal yet. Looking forward to getting my 'all in' Incursion pledge, it should be awesome.

I will never back another Cool Mini or Not game unless it's to resell at a profit on eBay. Seriously, nice miniatures but shitty games.

Has some elements that feel like a board game.
