A Cyberfeminist! Nothing worse than that!

You know I hate historical revisionists. This is a job for Jur. he is a historian. Maybe Jur can settle this matter for us.

Sounds like a stretch to me to make her the first programmer.

Kind of like calling Pat Boone the father of Rock n' Roll

And I'm a Chinese Jet Pilot....

Bits of untruth...
1. I haven't worn a tank top since the 80's. Basketball was involved.
2. I don't actually work on PC's.
3. I am still very much lord of my domain. I have a minion, a few people at work are actually afraid of me (this is downright surreal).

The trick is to be involved in esoteric stuff. Unix is finally starting to become pervasive thanks to Linux, but Storage is still a Black Art. (Standardization hasn't quite set in yet. Stuff just doesn't play well together, especially if Fiber Channel is involved.)

Those PC guys, they ARE rapidly becoming a dime a dozen. The only problem is, I'm pretty sure I know more than many of them, and I don't really do PC's.

Although...the sterotypes of about black T-shirts, jeans, glasses, overweight, and unkempt...completely guilty.

Ada's another victim of ideology.

The IT set continues to make a lot of money, true, they have not all been turned into Maytag repairmen. Sadly this has led to DEVOlution in droves, and frankly the sooner modern civilization collapses, the better. I do like boardgames and junk food, though.

I'm not talking about that Ada bullshit. I'm talking about ENIAC's programmers - Betty Snyder, Betty Jean Jennings and Fran Bilas.

ETA: I forgot, Kathleen McNulty. The programmer who sits across the aisle from me just reminded me.

Can't settle this one. I'm more the 1568-1945 period. And I like revisionism. Especially if it debunks some heartland myths ;-)

Does this thread drift have anything to do with the ads for the L-Word tv show appearing here at F:AT?
