[Kickstarter] Servants of the Cinder Queen

Hey folks --

There may not be many Dungeon World players around here, but I just launched a kickstarter campaign for an adventure I wrote using that system. You get access to the pdf as soon as you back it at $3 or higher, and I'd love to hear any feedback you might have.

Thanks!

If you're doing this KS, and the graphic novel, why not Thrilling Tales?

Fair question!

1) TToA is not done yet. Eldritch Horror showed me how to do some things better.
2) Sending a pdf to a printer is easier by several orders of magnitude over all of the things you need to do to publish a boardgame. I want -- nay, need -- someone else to handle all that stuff.

backed @ 9 dollars due to intl postage.

Whilst I am skeptical of KS in the board and videogame world i think it is very effective in the RPG world where delivering a booklet and PDF are not quite so complex challenges and the quality of the writing can be clearly communicated.

You funded pretty quick so i guess your KS campaign was well designed.

The art you show, the page examples and the flavour text tells you enough to risk 3-10 dollars. The video is good and clear. It feels honest and thus engaging.

Having played a bit of a version of this in the PBEM game i look forward to the final product.

I just pledged and am looking forward to giving this adventure a whirl. Thanks again for putting me on to Dungeon World, Jason. I'm loving it so far and can't wait to test it out with my play group. I plan on using it as a HeroQuest RPG hybrid since the basic game is a lot of fun but really ties the players hands when they try to get into the "fiction" of it, so enter Dungeon World.

Pledged!

Where's the 2K pledge where Jason flies out to your house to run a game?

Word. I'm down with this pledge level as well. To cut down on travel costs perhaps he'll consider running a play-by-forum game. :)

If I'm not mistaken, this module looks like the Dungeon Crawl Classics PBF adventure he tried to run here before the thread died a premature death.

This looks great but I don't know who I would play it with around here. :(

Dude, we should definitely put together a PBF game for this. Dungeon World seems like it would be an excellent vehicle to drive a forum game.

We had one but it fizzled out, as these things do.

SebastianBudd is right that it is in fact the same adventure I tried to run here. And yeah, I think the problem was that I allowed too many players, which made it hard to keep up the momentum across the board.

Dungeon World is great for play-by-forum because there is less mechanical overhead and much more focus on the narrative. I've been running a game on another forum for 8 months now and it's still going strong. Weirdly, though, the players have yet to make an "End of Session" move and gain XP!

Man, I would love to run a face-to-face DW game for F:AT folks...

I'll try GM'ing Servants of the Cinder Queen here on the FAT forums if there is any interest. If we get enough players who are interested and can post daily I think it'll work out.

Went and dropped my $6. Have been meaning to look into Dungeon World, just haven't gotten to it yet.
