Don't listen to Jeb. You'll learn to love the desert. Though not in the middle of summer. But when you're hearing about 4 months of blizzards and below 0 temps? That's when you're sipping your margarita on a sunny, 60 degree winter late afternoon.

That's fucking nothing. Overnight low was 40C last summer. You're all a bunch of wimps. Daytime was 50C in the shade.

The wife wants to leave our beloved Kentucky and move to the persistent sun. I explained that the temperatures will be rising slowly thanks to global warming, and that we will be living in a place that, if the shit hits the fan socially or economically, we will have to drive 4-6 hours for a BOTTLE OF WATER.
But alas, she remains unrepentant. My mom is moving down there and she's getting old, so someone has to help her out with things, and since my 2 brothers can't do it, I'm going to. Flameyhotness, here we come!
@Jeb: Record overnight high is 63. Record daytime high (1990) was 117F. I reckon if soldiers in full battle rattle can tromp through Baghdad, so can I. I'll just do it in Arizona.

Fuck that shit, this winter's never ending. -17 C (about 0 F) this morning and the snow banks have barely started melting, and we're nearing the end of March! This morning I thought we were in the middle of January.SuperflyTNT wrote: I explained that the temperatures will be rising slowly thanks to global warming,

Tell me about it. Here in Cincinnati-area it's going to snow tomorrow. 39F. Shit's ridiculous...it's almost APRIL!

We had 20°C and sunshine two weeks ago, now it's 15°C and cloudy.Columbob wrote: Fuck that shit, this winter's never ending. -17 C (about 0 F) this morning and the snow banks have barely started melting, and we're nearing the end of March! This morning I thought we were in the middle of January.

Where it's fucking hot .
Just have a plan, is all. Look for a house that's buried, or has a white roof, or is not, actually, physically in the urban heat sink of Phoenix proper. Or develop a plan to deal with those temps and power outage--maybe a swamp cooler/gennie in the garage in case the AC is on the fritz. You have kids.

We have a generator, and that's going in the day we buy a house. If there's a brownout at 115F, we're either in the pool or firing that bitch up to keep the A/C going. I'm also going to have a pallet of water on hand for emergencies. I'm not a "prepper" or anything, but you have to protect yourself, sahib...
