There's actually an interesting article about how Netflix is trying to ACTUALLY do this. I was stunned at how hard it is to get everyone on board and get rights. It might happen, fingers crossed:

We had a vote on whether or not there should be more Firefly back in 2005. It was called Serenity and the vote was "no".
I liked the show well enough but folks really need to let it go.
