I have no idea why Zardoz is not regarded as the pinnacle of 1970's cinema in the way that The Godfather and The Good the Bad and the Ugly are. I know which one I would rather watch. My copy on video wore out because I was showing it to so many people who really needed to know how good cinema could be, so I really need to find a copy on DVD.

Why is Sean Connery dressed as Vampirella?

I loved Vampirella! I remember I had a huge stack of Vampirella comics, and mom threw tham all out when we moved because she said they were garbage. I also had a Vampirella model that I built. I think it had glow in the dark bits.

The thing that bothers me about Zardoz, is that the culture has the technology to make those boots, but they haven't figured out how to make pants. That's just dumb.

I know I'm in the right place when the other people in the room know about Zardoz.

When your culture is wandering around raping women that is just about the perfect outfit.

Giant gun-dispensing head. AWESOME.

ZARDOZ is a John Boorman film, probably the most ignored John Boorman film. It's an odd picture for him, but then again, this is the man who brought us:

EXCALIBUR
DELIVERANCE
POINT BLANK
HOPE AND GLORY
THE EMERALD FOREST

He's done a little of everything- and done extremely well at all of it. I've always felt he was kind of underrated as a director.

My wife just looked over my shoulder and said "There is a discussion on Zardoz and you didn't start it? No wonder you like that site so much."

I have a habit of telling people about this movie called "Xanadu" starring Sean Connery in red briefs and giant boots with a giant floating head. Yeah, of course I mean Zardoz. Heh. Of course, Xanadu is a pretty weird movie too.

You have been raised up from Brutality, to kill the Brutals who multiply, and are legion. To this end, Zardoz your God gave you the gift of the Roller Skate. The Roller Skate is good!
