I saw it tonight and I thought it was pretty incredible. Very well done story and a very on focus message. With all the 2001 references, it was almost the opposite of 2001. In 2001, the movie ended quietly, this one started quietly. 
In the beginning the robot was more human like and that was the opposite of 2001. It just needed the star child somewhere.
