Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
Realitive worth of Starcraft the Board Game
1) Is it really that good of a game or does it's O.O.P. status and relative rarity make it over hyped.
2) How much should I bid before I drop out and not be a chump?

Best judge of what to pay is BGG. Go to the BGG page and see what you can pick a copy up for in the Marketplace.
So far, $100.00 is the cheapest for a Very Good copy. Noble Knight has a new-mint copy for 135.

It's OOP and there is almost no way ever it's getting reprinted cause of the license, and it's pretty damn good. Though I haven't played it in like 2 years at this point, so I dunno...

The game is very good. It reminds me of Chaos in the Old World, if you had no cards and twelve different units. The general idea of the game is to juggle a good economic balance with a flexible army that can answer your enemy's units and then try to beat them with as few loses as possible, be it units or "combat cards".
Now, that makes for a complex game because there are many units of different power that are good against each other, like in the original videogame and if you haven't played it I can see you having to play two or three uninteresting games until everyone knows what a Basilisk is and you can just say "I'm getting stimpacks" without anyone requiring an explanation.
TL;DR: To play Starcrat you need
1) A stable group of people you always play with
2) That group must have played Starcraft or be very, very willing to learn what each unit does.
3) That group msut be willing to play a 3-4h game ten or twenty times to get the best out of it.

The problem with the BGG Market place is some stuff is overpriced IMO. On the BGG game page, check out the Ebay links to get a fairer idea of what it has sold for. Some BGG Marketplace listings sit for ages due to unrealistic pricing.

Here's the real deal -- you're a buyer. Decide what you think it's worth to you, and then stay inside that limit. If that's not enough then so be it. There's other good games to spend the money on.

Definitely still available, click on "Market Info" below the buy button in the Marketplace.Sagrilarus wrote: BGG marketplace used to show finished sales and that was useful. But I don't think that's available anymore.
