WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!
This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.
Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;
Two games enter! One game leaves!

Sag, your statement has about as much merit as the dorks on the internet who claim they wouldn't fuck the elf chicks.
I'm saying that if you were buying it for the playing you'd get the cheap version. You're buying it for the art. I've seen the Settlers up close and it doesn't look very difficult to play. But fundamentally you're buying it for brag.
Once the ears come off the elf chicks are pretty much just chicks. I suppose the same could be said for these CE versions.

I bought mine to play with. I'm probably going to sell my normal copy once I get this bad boy out.
I found SoC fine, and SoC with CK was described by 2 of my gaming buddies as "fucking Eurogame, bring out Summoner Wars dude"

The title of this Trashdome should be Money vs Sense. Of couse I say this when my wife bought the Catan CE when I wasn't looking. At least she got it for only $180. Only...
Having seen both though I'll go with the Catan CE. It's got C&K included and 3d terrain tiles that are fun to play with. WotR has a big box and painted figures. Did I mention the box was big? If blowing a lot of money on a boardgame was so important to me, I'd go buy a copy of Risk: Black Ops. At least has a cool factor. These two monstrosities just scream "Dork".
