× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Starcraft VS Warrior Knights

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Sunday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

I've never played Starcraft, although I would jump at the chance. Loved the computer game, this one looks like another great big box from FFG's gold age of great miniatures and value.

However, WK is a solid game, also comes from FFG's golden age of great production values (although knights' weapons have that softly drooping lance/sword syndrome) and contents for your money's worth, and I would practically never turn down a game. It can be as long (really begs for it) or short (booo!) as you want it to be and the cheap expansion adds a lot of depth. You can also choose whatever you want to use from the expansion for your own gaming experience.

Never played the classic BTW, but it got remade for a very good reason, because it was a classic for 20 years.

Oh yeah, and just for the record before MB bursts in, WK was practically half the price of SC, with the expansion a third of the price of Brood War. So for the same price as SC+BW you could get WK+exp AND Arkham with 1-2 small boxes thrown in.

Vote: Warrior Knights

Warrior Knights

Great game for great price and the expansion is the best small expansion FFG has ever released.

Finally a Trashdome with games that are actually relevant. I like both of these games but Starcraft is the clear winner here. Amazing components, gameplay and a brilliant example of why/how license based boardgames do not have to suck.

I haven't played Starcraft so take my vote with a pinch of salt. And I suspect Starcraft is probably the better game, but I do own, play and really enjoy Warrior Knights with the Crown & Glory expansion, so my vote goes to:

Vote: Warrior Knights

Both games give me major boners, and both have outstanding expansions.

VOTE: Starcraft, because it costs more and makes the cheap-asses cry.

Didnt enjoy playing Starcraft so much, and now I'm actually thinking about getting Warrior Knights, based on reviews and stuff.

I have a question for WK fans:

My friends love Runewars, and reading the reviews and articles, it seems like there are many things similar between the two. Titles that you can get, playing cards from your hand as your action, diceless card based combat, and so on.

How is this different from Runewars? What things make it its own game and unique?

I just am not the type to settle, you know? It's like when I go shopping. I have to have the most expensive thing. Not because it's expensive, but because it costs more.

However, I have to vote Warrior Knights, because once we had a vote in Parliment that pissed certain people off so much, that we had to stop the game, and certain people didn't speak to each other for months on account of it. Also, it has knights, rather than those insect things in Starcraft. So whoever wins is like a really hot knight dude, not a gross thing that might possibly have tentacles. I know that there are some people that are into that weird tentacle stuff, but, sorry, no thank you.

i'd be interested in something like this too. it was brought up alittle in Barnes's Runewars review article, but it'd be nice to see more in depth.

Starcraft. It's a cool, new way of doing a DoaM game, and is one of the few "big" games that scale well from 2 to 6 players. And it just looks fucking cool.
