I used to call that "shooting fireballs" when I was a teenager too.

Oh wait ... you mean that's NOT a euphemism??

I got the full version of Transport Tycoon. It's got a steep learning curve, but holy fuck is this game addicting. There's something so weirdly satisfying about watching all your little trains and trucks drive around.

I downloaded Lords of Waterdeep and a bunch of Warhammer Quest stuff with my Christmas iTunes gift cards.

I'm really enjoying Lords of Waterdeep, mostly because it's a worker placement game I'm not terrible at. I'm no expert on the Euro sub genre, but Waterdeep feels much more flexible, you don't need a longterm plan from turn 1 that must be optimized for maximum output. It's more about medium term goals and synergy between plot cards and your character card than building an efficient engine.

I bought the Brutal Tribe, Skaven expansion and all the undead stuff for WHQ. Then I bought the troll slayer, arch mage, shadow warrior and witch hunter for a new party. I'm playing them on the same save as my big boys, but didn't give them any of the starter guys' awesome items. I did use the 9000 gold or so I had saved up for merchant purchases though. It's an interesting mix as I don't have any healing magic yet, but that hasn't been a problem yet. The undead enemies are a nice addition to the mix. The witch hunter, who is already pretty bad ass, is amazing against the undead. He could clear out the whole room by himself if I let him, but you gotta spread the XP around.

I forgot how good this game is. AAA production all the way. It's too bad Rodeo Games isn't going to release anything else for it, it could really use just one more character so you could have three complete parties of four.

Going toe-to-toe with Dogmatix in a series of WELDER matches--we're split pretty evenly so far, and he's starting to successfully co-opt my strategy of using mines liberally. :)

I can't seem to beat Chaos (final boss fight) in Final Fantasy. He's too tough! Final Fantasy III just came out for WP7 too, but it's like 16 bucks, they're out of their minds.

Hoplite. It's awesome. It's a turn-based puzzle game where you're fighting different monsters on a simple map, trying to get to the exit and survive through a series of levels. It's all deterministic, so kind of a brain burner, and pretty hard so far.

I've been playing Ghost Trick. This was a DS game that Capcom converted to iOS. You play a ghost who uses his powers of possession to put together the mystery of his death.

The actual puzzle aspects are minimal, since the game itself keeps you on track and doesn't punish you for failure. You can pretty much make forward progress by trial and error. The reason I'm still playing is that it has a charm and style that are really endearing, and I want to see how everything resolves. It was worth the .99.

I always hated that the final boss was so hard, and that once you went to the final castle, you were stuck and couldn't go back. It's a long and arduous slog through the final area in the original Final Fantasy.

Aaronto, I thankfully had a teleport spell so after 6 attempts at not getting anywhere close (the bastard has a cure-all spell too! It's totally nuts), I teleported back up the dungeon one floor at a time until I got out. I'm now doing the Earthbound Shrine and others of these newly unlocked boss-heavy dungeons to try and level up a dozen levels or so. Then I'll have to do the entire Chaos Shrine final dungeon again. Ugh. i need to have more megaexilirs or Dry Ether. I'm always running out of magic.

I want to get a game of Waterdeep going. Anyone want to PM me your usernames? Sucks that you can't just add from Gamecenter.

My username seems to be hotseatgames but I'm not entirely sure.
