Hoplite is an amazing game - and if you have an Android device you can even get a free version.

It has just the right amount of puzzle, a dash of story/theme, and I love that it is turn based.

My only quibble now is that it feels done since I (finally) got past the 16th level. I thought there would be more campaigns, and presumably there might be at some point. Sure, I could play more and try to beat my score or get more achievements, but it felt like such an accomplishment to finish it (I'd been to the 16th level three times before but failed to beat it) that I don't really feel the urge to go through it all again. But if there was another campaign with some different wrinkles and new monsters, sure, I'd love to. So yeah, it's a great little game, but I hope they offer a sequel sometime soon.

I bought the full game and it has achievements which unlocks new abilities. Quite cool. Also you can now go deeper than 16 which will give you the bonus from the fleece. Haven't reached level 16 since I upgraded though ...

I don't see any means of upgrading. As far as I know I bought the full game.

The Android version requires an upgrade to unlock achievements, new abilities, and to progress lower than level 16. But so far it doesn't seem like much happens on lower levels. I'm on level 17 now and it's more of the same.

Still a good game, but a new scenario would be very cool.

Yeah, apparently the iOS version includes everything, so presumably this time, if I pass the 16th level, it will continue beyond that. Still, I think they do need to add an update with new monsters and terrain or something to shake things up.

Is this any good?

Empire: The Deck-Building Strategy Game

I seem to remember people feeling very blah about it.

Also I'm now playing SolForge as Legomancer

Haven't played it but the Pocket Tactics crew were favorable to it www.pockettactics.com/reviews/review-empire/

Been playing Warhammer Quest a bunch still. After my Witch Hunter, Troll Slayer, Archmage and Shadow Warrior party got wiped a second time I gave them a go for the third time. Also, I've noticed in a total party kill the last warrior killed doesn't get wiped. I'm playing hardcore, but is it supposed to do that?

This time my Archmage got his lone healing spell on Level 2! So now I'm rolling along at ease. Also doing the Skaven quests to switch things up.

I actually just got back into WHQ myself, bought all the new stuff. Shadow Warrior, jeez. That guy is ridiculous. Ogre Ironguts died in his second outing. Witch Hunter seems really neat. I like the new monster sets...haven't really gotten to the new Brutal Tribe area yet. I forgot how good the game is, you play other IOS dungeoncrawlers and they just aren't anywhere near this level.

Hoplite is OK...it didn't really hold my interest beyond a couple of days though. Solid concept, could use some more development.

Empire seems really interesting...but then it just isn't. The battle resolution is terrible and the "survive as long as you can" thing is a pretty crummy meager goal with there's just a very short upgrade cycle.
