I can't believe I'm the first to post this.

Love the comment "After the world sees this, we can all go through Armageddon as happy people".

Been a while since I went to a midnight release. This may qualify (even with a wife and kid and job now...)!

Hellz yes. Loving that dwarf song too. Closest thing this franchise has had to the songs in the Rankin/Bass versions.

So super stoked for this!

But nothing will ever top the Rankin/Bass masterpiece!

I'm just happy that short guys are getting some love again. Now that Jason Alexander's out of a job and Robin Williams isn't funny anymore, I was losing faith.

Wow this looks incredible. I can't wait for this because I like The Hobbit much more than the LotR trilogy. I read the book, had a comic version of it and watched the cartoon over and over as a child.

I actually liked this trailer more than what I saw of The Dark Knight Rises...

Most of the dwarves are in fact huge dudes.

Having just recently reread The Hobbit and seeing again that the tone really is that of a children's book - I like how there seemed to be some silly scenes in the trailer too. Pete's got my faith.

Though the DK Batman films are great, like all superhero films they feel disposable to me. After all, within 5-10 years DC will reboot the franchise for sure.

The LotR franchise feels like a one and done event. I don't see these being remade for a long, long time. If ever. It'd be like remaking Gone With The Wind. Not likely.

Yeah, I like the rambunctiousness and lighter tone. The dwarves look awesome, the song is awesome. Everything about this looks awesome. I'm glad Jackson is doing it and not Del Toro.

As for the TDKR trailer...I think it looks fucking amazing. It's topical, intense, and just _slightly_ comic booky. Bane looks mrbmberbmberbmbarble, Selina looks hot, and WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT FLYING THING!?

They really should treat any future Batman films like a new Bond franchise, not as a cyclical reboot thing.

It looks like Jackson has figured out the tone with this one. I was worried it would get a little ominous, but since Peter Jackson is just an overgrown 14-year-old anyway, he's might be better suited to this material than he was to LotR. We all know how those resulted, and this looks more than up to the challenge.

I also realized how well Jackson nailed the look all those years ago. The movies are 10 years old now, but they've aged very well, and I don't think the gap will hurt it at all.

And The Dark Knight Rises looks amazing. After that one, I suspect that any other comic book movie will be living in the shadow of Nolan's trilogy.

I saw this at a film festival a week and a half ago, in 3D. I'm really torn, because while the 3D wowed me (specifically, the shot of Bilbo hopping over the fence with the paper in this hand), I kind of like the cinematography better in 2D. The only recent 3D movies worth the extra cash for the glasses were Hugo and Tintin.

Oh, who am I kidding? I'll see this thing multiple times in the theater, just like LotR.
