Officially prequel was the Temple of Doom, which is by far the worst of the 3, but the Indy films aren't really sequential, as pulp stories like that don't really have much of a defined order (same with The Good the Bad and the Ugly which is theoretically a prequel).

I haven't seen X-Men: First Class, but it is supposedly OK, and there are vastly differing opinions over the Star Wars prequels which some people really like. I will concede that "Flintstones in Viva Rock Vegas" is superior to the first film, but that just means it is a 5/10 compared to the first films 3/10.

Prequels are very hard to do, as the ending is known, but then there have been many masterpieces of film where the ending is given at the start.

I don't even like Sequels, any of them...Except one. Aliens. So I'm giving this one a benefit of the doubt.

Here's hoping The Hobbit can be added to the list.

The Hobbit is just Tolkien blatantly cashing in.

I guess I should have said "improved" upon. I liked The Road Warrior, and Terminator II, but I still liked the originals better. But I thought Aliens "improved" the franchise, I liked it better than the original.

Oh YOU'RE the guy that likes MAD MAX more than THE ROAD WARRIOR.

...and EP IV more than EP V and V-ger more than Khan, and so on.

Ok, now we're getting ridiculous.
Some franchises need a test-run before they really open 'er up.

Evil Dead I v. II? I'll take II.
Frankenstein v. The Bride of...?
Manhunter v. The Silence of the Lambs? :P
Toystory I v. II?

Some are just damn close... I'll take both!
Godfather I v. II?
NOTLD v. Dawn?

Godfather 2 was partially a prequel. The new Planet of the Apes and Star Trek films were both prequels (and reboots), and both great. The Twin Peaks movie prequel was quite good, and better than the series had gotten by that point. Hopefully the Monsters Inc. prequel ("Monster University") will be good.

While at the movies for MI:4 they had trailers for the following sequels:

Ghost Rider

GI Joe

Clash of the Titans

I didn't see any of them, but word of mouth on all was pretty bad; I didn't think they would warrant sequels.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade was brilliant, and it was a sort-of prequel. X-Men First Class was truly wonderful, and it was a prequel.

This movie will be awesome, just like all of the other movies aside from the Predator V. Alien movies that I don't even consider to be part of the Alien franchise.

Yes, I was the one guy who liked A:Resurrection. Watching the alien implode underwater was wicked.

You gents have been talking about Hobbit, this, and to some degree, Dark Knight Whatevers, but you have been remiss in not mentioning this:

I just had one of those "You don't know me!" moments, But come to think about it I did think Star trek the Motion Picture was the best of them all. Maybe you do know me. ;) I guess I like when the story is what it is, and taking the story line and adding as many lightsabers as humanly possible doesn't really do anything for me. There was just something about Aliens though, and the BFG and one liners really hit the sweet spot.

The Road Warrior was an oddball. Almost not really in the same storyline. They could have not called it Mad Max II and we wouldn't have been the wiser.

I'm a movie music fascist, so I liked Khan the best not for the movie itself (although it was good), but because I liked the music the best. There's a tune in it that just resonates with me (pun intended) and therefore I love it the most. The best of all of those movies was Undiscovered Country, because of the political thriller/whodunit plot, but Khan had the best "shooting space shit" of all time, IMO. Way better than some fucking space Magic 8 Ball populated by an old burn victim.

Road Warrior was the best of them, but I have to agree that it wasn't "in canon". It fucks me off that Mel isn't going to be the main man in the new Fury Road...I'd have liked to see Max again, as the original Max.

Aliens was the best of the Aliens franchise, hands down. Alien was great, no doubt, but there isn't an entire Warhammer 40K universe that was loosely based on it; rather it's based on Aliens IMO despite what GW would have you belive. :)

I've never heard Last Crusade called a prequel before. How so?
