I was impressed with Brad Pitt years ago, when he did great movies like Twelve Monkeys, Se7en and Fight Club. I haven't been impressed with any of his recent work. In particular, his performance in Inglorious Basterds was cheesy and annoying. Maybe this is all Angelina Jolie's fault... he's too tired from dealing with all those kids to do any decent acting anymore.

Yeah... women tend to do that.

I think the best incarnation of this oral history of the zombie war is actually the audio drama. I don't think it will even make a good movie. I'm assuming they'll do it docudrama-style with shaky handcams and I'm kind of sick of that stuff.

Like another novel I love that is supposedly being adapted, 'Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell', I just can't see it working as what makes the book so great is the world that it captures and the way it explores it, rather than the plot.

I figured Pitt would be in the movie adaptation, since he bought the screen rights like years ago.

I'd worry for an adaptation of Strange and Norrell. Since much of that book works because it has that early 19th century touch to it, that will get lost in adaptation. You can't just "pride and prejudice" it. It is also not plain fantasy. Needs a really good director to pull this on off. Guillermo del Torro? Since The Hobbit is put in the freezer, he might be available for this.

WWZ is also a tough adaptation. Just doing it as the bunch of interviews as in the book wouldn't make much of a movie.

mad dog, you should see Pontypool. It's basically a zombie movie being reported from a radio station. It's not bad at all. The ending is terrible but everything else is strong.

Man, I'm not happy about this Brad Pitt news. He's the only reason I didn't get Basterds 5 stars

anyway, they are going to need one hell of a screenwriter to adapt the novel to the big screen. If they take LOTS of notes from Waltz With Bashir, they should be fine. That's how you turn tons of interviews into a movie
