I decree that mjl1783 is wrong! So let it be written. So let it be done. (except for the part about Ann Hathaway as Catwoman. She totally totally nails that role)

Also let it be known that mjl1783's socks don't match.

I have to agree with mjl; this was the weakest of the three movies. It was enjoyable and worth watching once or twice, but nothing more than that.

I was worried about Anne Hathaway, actually...MJ's vote of confidence is tremendous since he hates all that he surveys.

I wasn't worried about her hotness though, that's confirmed. At least post nose-job.

I don't like the Catwoman costume so much, wish they had gone with the short hair/goggles look.

Still haven't seen it, so I'll just slum here in the no spoilers thread. Hey, I did watch Batman: Under the Red Hood last though, it was pretty darn good.

Anne Hathaway makes me rise too.

Anne nails that role. Not just being hot. There are a lot of hot actresses. She gets the 'tude, the swagger, the style.

Saw Under the Red Hood as well and thought it was good.

Amen, Repo. She made the role interesting and believable. I was worried at her casting but she was fantastic as Selena.

Still, having not seen it...I can see why Nolan went with her. I'm sure he wanted to get away from the overdone fetish queen thing that most people associate with Catwoman, and instead went with an actress that is very elegant and classy. She comes across as a very sophisticated, savvy woman in most of her roles and that's appropriate for Selina Kyle as long as we're not talking the more lacivious depictions of her.

She's such a huge step up from Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhal...two of the series' weakest links.

I'm glad to hear Hathaway was able to pull it off. I've never been a fan of her work, comedy or drama. The best thing I had to say about her acting ability was "she shows her boobs a lot."

I'm itching to go see this on the local IMIN, but my wife (who I'll be seeing it with) is out of town until the end of the month. Soooo tempted to go myself and fake it with her later.

Yeah I'm getting my vicarious fix as well. I unfortunately won't be able to see it until after I get back from holidays in Montreal/Sherbrooke.

bfkiller, I'm no Anne Hathaway fan at all. But you gotta see Rachel Getting Married (or whatever it's called). She's terrific in that.

There appears to be some commentary on lefty blogs about this. Since I'm avoiding spoilers I haven't read beyond a scan of the titles, but yeah it sounds like others have noticed something up too.

Haven't seen it yet either, but it doesn't surprise me at all. The last one had a pretty right-wing vibe to me, I'd be amazed if this weren't even more so.

Batman is not exactly a social progressive to begin with.

Ha, "something up"? Yes it has a conservative slant in so far as it is a Good vs Evil tale like most super hero movies. Also it stresses that you are what you choose to be and the choices you make have consequences.
