So iOS 6 was released today. Any of you update yet? I'm loving a lot of the new updates. The passbook sounds neat in theory, but it doesn't seem to be working yet. At least not on my 4.

I doubt I'll ever use Passbook. I don't give a shit about Twitter/Facebook integration, since I use neither.
I think the new option to send a message when declining a phone call will be neat. I'll have to test it out.
I hate how some system apps make the top status bar light blue and faded instead of remaining black.
New maps will probably suck. Most of my city is shown as green (park) when it obviously isn't. It makes it difficult to see streets. A bit irritating.
I like the new UI for the music player, especially the podcast controls on the lock screen which added a 15 second backup button.

I currently have a 3GS, but hope to get a 5 this Friday.

It's a pretty solid update.

Maps is 10,000 percent better. The new options for calls are nice to at least have. The iPad finally got a clock — welcome to 1987, iPad. The social stuff I don't really care about.

GameCenter is better, too, although still not the killer feature it could be. The challenges feature will be fun. In fact, I think I'll send some of you fools some challenges right now ...

Why the fuck iPad still doesn't have a built-in calculator is beyond me. WTF?

I love that virtual wallet deal, though. That's bad ass. If only it worked for store reward cards and the like it would be epic.

The the first ‘phone game’ arrived in 1901, and consisted of lifting and replacing the receiver as many times as possible in a 10 minute period.

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAAH That's almost exactly like 60% of the wanker button mashers today! Ours are just prettier!

I'm still waiting for a phone that doesn't roam while I walk to the bathroom.

Eh, I don't know... Some of the changes seem like "fixes" of things that weren't broken. Most significantly, IMO, the App Store search function now only shows 1 result on iPhone/iPod. Yes, one. Which means that I'll probably never use it again. Good job, Apple. And the mail no longer has a "check mail" button, so you need to go into one of the mail accounts to get it going. Not a big deal, really, but still, why bother to change that?

It reminds of when Windows 7 moved the little round button on the bottom of your screen that would take you out to your desktop, from just to the right of the Start button, to way over on the right of the screen. Same essential function, but I still over a year later find myself going to click on the spot where it was only to remember, ah crap, they moved it. Pointless changes for the sake of adding to the number of things that are "new" or different.

Anyway, yeah, the iPad really needs a calculator and a voice recording app, already.

I forgot a big one... Instead of podcasts being in the Music app where they've always been, now you have to get the Podcasts app, which doesn't seem to add anything except an extra app to clutter your screen, and a different place that you're not used to going to have to access.

You guys listening to podcasts should get Downcast. Much better app than either of Apple's offerings in this space.

I haven't had to use the maps yet, so non-committal there. I like the social networking hooks, glad to see iTunes getting a touch up there too, Ping was pointless. Safari seems faster, or at least they color in the bar quicker.

I think the store is WAY better. The search function was such a fucking turd. I tried looking up MAGIC THE GATHERING for that duels game and it wasn't even on the first couple of pages of results. That kind of shit is fixed, at least.

Or you know, just right click on the task bar and pick show desktop. But I agree that quick launch icon was the best. Even the way described above is not exactly the same - two clicks instead of one.

On the main mail screen where all your inboxes are listed, where you used to hit the small refresh button on the bottom left, now you just pull down to refresh.

might be a coincidence but ever since the upgrade, both Le Havre and Tigris have been painfully slow to update via Gamecenter.

It also adds a Show Desktop icon to the toolbar. I have been using it ever since I got Win7 at my workplace. I just couldn't get used to the built-in solution.
