So, in light of my recent acquisition of an iPad 2, I want everyone with an iPad to name one game that I absolutely MUST have. Thinking about Starbase Orion.

Puerto Rico HD is great; just wish it had the expansions.
Kingdom Rush is my favorite tower defense game. Super fun with great character.
NYT Crosswords, not actually a game, but still fun and might make you feel smart.

Warning: This might backfire and make you feel really dumb instead.
I'm looking into the iPad. Will I really regret going for the 16GB version? Is it upgradable if I do regret it?

Go for as much space as you can afford, since the space fills up fast. I got a 32 and regret not getting a 64 GB.

If you plan to put a bunch of music and a bunch of games on it, 16GB will fill up quickly. I have about 1000 songs on mine and it takes up 9.5 gigs. A lot of games are fairly large and can take up a lot of space as well.
If you are mostly looking at one for games, 16GB might be fine.

Mine only has 16gb. My iPhone had 16gb and I had a TON of games and some podcasts and I still had 4gb free.

Puerto Rico is actually really good. It's simple once you understand it, and it can be rather cutthroat for a game that has no actual player interaction.

Neuroshima Hex and Elder Sign are my two "desert island" games. Ascension and Carcassonne are amazing, as well.
My dark horse pick is Samurai. It's a great universal app, although it's completely unsupported by the publisher at this point.

I've ride a few games of n hex but I just can't wrap my head around it. I mean I get the game, I just can't make it work for me.
I do love carcassonne on the iPad. I hope they decide to put out some more expansions.

I can say it is amazing. Sure its a high price compared with other apps, but there is a lot of quality gaming there. Solo campaigns to keep you busy, two player 'PBEM' games, choose your forces games, and so on. IAPs keep you playing if required (haven't needed them yet), and can design maps (not sure if iPad can do this, but certainly user creations out there).
Finally you can play against friends with PCs and Macs, so most everyone.
