I just submitted the final payment on my student loan, and when it clears we will be debt-free. Never has paying money made me feel like such a badass.

I was a debt-free for a couple of months in 2010. Then I got a car loan, to help beef up my credit score. Then I bought a house. I will be in debt for a long time.

We picked up some debt when our daughter was born. Will be done with it in about three months. All that'll be left is the house, but we need to refinance to a 15 anyway...

I paid off my student loan last month, my wife is paying hers off via the National Guard, and we just started working on paying off our not-too-bad credit card debt.
Now I'm just waiting for some large unexpected expense to screw it all up.

We started paying ours back 2 years ago when we finally finished our PHDs. Mine isn't bad, my parents helped out quite a bit, but my wife has a ton from being in school for college 10+ years.
