I have a kind of love-hate relationship with Vegas. I LOVE playing poker and, if I have the roll, I can spend days at the tables. Problem is, after about 24 hours, the lack of natural light starts to get to me so I keep having to skip a couple hands or even cash out so that I can take the long walk off the floor of wherever I'm playing and get out in the sunlight and non-recycled air for at least a few minutes.

@Kingput: I've done the Hall a couple times, too. It's great and also the only place I've been able to find a working model of the old Haunted House machine in many years. If you don't like (or can't afford) gambling, there are a ton of other things to do in town and many of the shows have gotten cheaper in recent years. I was there about 10 years ago visiting a friend (and, yes, playing) and the day we arrived, they'd lost power in the Bellagio. Whoever was cutting costs on construction had the backup power lines in the same conduits as the main power lines, so when they lost the mains, they couldn't get in there to repair them without shutting down the backups. (Genius!) So, they were already trying to redistribute people all over town. We walked into New York, New York while waiting for my friend to get off work (he was dealing craps) and were immediately accosted by a guy trying to sell timeshares who promised us two tickets to Zoomanity if we listened to a spiel for half an hour. My then-wife really wanted to see a Cirque show that I didn't really want to spend money on at the time, so I agreed. We listened with my head basically making like a metronome ("No... No... No...") and got our two nosebleed tix. I was fine with it. But then we arrived that evening for the show and there was a line going out across the casino floor. Apparently, the Bellagio also had all the reservation and ticket servers for the MGM and NY, NY, as well, so everyone that had bought tickets for the show online had no way to confirm what seats they were in. They just had the confirmation that said they'd bought X number of tickets and the theater couldn't figure out what to do. 5 minutes before the show was supposed to start, they threw up their hands and just let everyone in, general admission. So our free balcony seats became free 4th row, center stage seats. Was a pretty good show, too.

The only thing I really, truly enjoyed in my maybe 20 trips to Vegas was the one year my company was invited to the SHOT show. Holy shit, that was the Mecca of guns. I was near-orgasmic.

That, and Cirque du Soleil. I saw Ka and it was the most fantastic thing I've ever seen IRL.

I'm headed to Vegas at the end of the month. Where is this magical machine of which you speak???? Hopefully I can be first in line for the day.

It's in the Men's room. Just look for the stall with a hole in the side.
