Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay - On a Slippery Slope
The main thing with taking board gamers and trying roleplaying to to emphasize that the point isn't to "win" and in fact no one "wins." The whole point is to run around, do stupid shit, and worship the plaguefather nurgle.
The two biggest things you should remember are:
You are all working to tell a story
It is fun to kill things...

We're still new at this, and I'm not even sure if we have the time to sustain it and see it to it's end, but yeah. RPGs are fun, needs a ton of work though.
It is a lot of work, but like many things in life you get out of it what you put into it. Once all of you get your sea legs and realize what you are doing, IF everyone is giving 100%, it is about as much fun as you can have gaming. GMing a campaign where all the players love it and are having a great time is a very fulfilling experience.

Word, Tom. Word. I'm a full time GM, after being on the other side of the screen, binders, coke box, I have a hard time relating as a player. It isn't so much as control, as is providing an engaging story for my players to muddle through.

I'm thinking of getting a 2nd WFRP book, anybody have any ideas what to hit?

Those three books also include some nice detail on the three iconic cities that really helps to give you a feel for the world.
The rest of the books mostly consist of a lot of background and few rules, and maybe a sample adventure.
The most useful are the new Career book, Realms of Sorcery, and Tome of Knowledge. Of course the latter two are only useful if you have spellcasters.
