I actually liked Barnes list just fine. I wrote sarcastically on the comments page but I had no real issue with it. It always sounds to me like he is kind of joking (especially with comments like "or your nerd cred is at stake").

But, my list is better and your all idiots if you don't agree.

What's that you say, "that's not reasonable"... well how about go fuck yourself, sound reasonable??

So, without further ado (and with spelling errors, notice I spelt beggining two ways!!, that's versatility) here is the real list of foundational games that created the mechanisms we enjoy today. Some I believe, some I'm kind of joking about

1/ Hnefatafl, Tafl games in general (The beggining of asymetrical sides in wargaming)

2/ Senet (The begining of roll and move)

3/ Go (The begining of elegant[?] gaming)

4/ Shesh Besh (The begining of roll and remove a piece [not risk])

5/ Xiangqi (The begining of terrain modifiers)

6/ Nas or Pochspiel (The begining of bluffing)

7/ Patolli (The begining of the AT movement, includes betting and war)

8/ Carrom (The begining of awesome dex games, you should own it)

9/ D&D (The begining of co-op gaming and RPG'ing, still a good game to this day)

10/ Twister (The begining of me touching hot chicks!!)

That's it. Let this thread be about what the 20th century brought to gaming and where that comes from.

How dare you. Your opinion infuriates me with its pretentiousness. Perhaps the title of this uncalled for list should have been "If you haven't played, owned, or at least thought about these games, in my opinion you may or may not be a pedophile".

Is this the spiritual predecessor to that donkey-shitting game?

Are you implying that your wife is not hot??

See that? I'm implying that your wife

and I

wait for it...

Play twister together... ooooooooooooo

Seriously though, you might not even have a wife (which is really hot), but seriously...

Twister is the tenth best game of all time.

Piers Anthony allegedly owns none of these games, so the OP must be right.

Epic fail. I have all these games, and I'm a pedophile.

How come Busen Memo isn't on this list?

Admittedly, very few people would ever admit to owning a copy of Busen Memo.
