Hi

Can't find your profile name on the system - I've got everyone else.

Can you let me know what email you've used to sign up with?

Cheers,
Matt

my email is papasango at hotmail dot com. I can get into open games for Hannibal and a couple others but not Titan, strange.

update edit: I just added my name to the opponents wanted list and it comes up Anthony Santiago, even though my user name lists drmabuse00, oh well.
Last edit: 30 May 2008 08:47 by Dr. Mabuse. Reason: update

And we're good to go.

You should find the game in your ACTS accounts.

Billy Z is up first. I really CBA to make a tutotial or anything, so better you take a look at the interface yourself and see what you make of it. I'll answer any questions you have.

Be aware I'm often not online much over the weekends though.

Cheers,
Matt

Hey guys I just woke up. I have some things to do before I get ready for work (7:30PM- 6AM), and will only have time to get my turn in tommorrow.

Is everyone cool with that?

How "tied to the rules" is ACTS?

Just wondering if you can play cosmic titan (the variable player powers variant) on ACTS?

Well folks I'm playing my first game of Titan over on Warhorse Simulations, The FAT Invitational, and I'm having my ass handed to me in wee paper cup.

I'm loving every minute of it!

Titan's a waaaaay more complex game than it looks to be on the surface: knowing when to split, what to split, what to recruit, when to recruit and when to hold off for better potential, masterboard positional factors, using battleboard terrain to maximum effect, remembering the compostion of opposing legions-- and the list goes on.

It's got that easy to learn hard/hard to master feel that all great games have. It's how they pull you in. You get your ass kicked, wonder why, and go running back for more just to see if you can improve on your last performance.

My current game has tought me some tough lessons:

1)Always consider Masterboard position before splitting
2)4/3 splits suck ass (Matt Thrower tought me this by kindly eliminating one
legion and then going on to pick on the other-- Thanks Matt... ya bastard).
3)It's extremely satisfying to whittle down an opposing legion
when you're outnumbered, and outgunned, rendering it easy pickings for
whatever other region happens to be around (you're welcome Matt).

Trust me folks, if this game is good enough to get my lazy ass to take the time to write a quick little comment about it on the internets, then it's definately something you should try. I suggest trying out Colossus (just google it-- can't be arsed to link it :p) out first. It's a java version of the boardgame that's pretty user friendly. Just get the rules and a muster diagram from that other boardgaming site and you're on your way.

I'm definately buying the reprint.

Is this as hard to play online as TI3 is?

I haven't played TI3, so I can't compare, but it's just a matter of getting acquainted with the interface which isn't too hard to learn. Having played thru 3 games already I'm pretty familiar with it and should be able to answer any questions that arise.

The thing to know about ACTS unlike Colossus is that striking and rangestriking are not handled automatically. You'll need to have a Strike Chart and Mustering Chart handy, which you can download from BGG or Wikipedia (under Titan of course).

Playing Titan on ACTS is considerably easier than playing TI3. The fact that you don't need a GM for Titan and do for TI3 should be testament enough to that.

Sign me up for this game - I'm in the market for some seriously vengeful arse-kicking after my last pathetic display.
