Another thing that sucked about last Friday's episode was that Edward James Olmos directed it. They're letting the bench play in the 4th quarter. I can not stand watching an actor/director in front of the camera giving themselves direction from their mind. It always comes off as a little too much. This week the "old man" was laying it on a bit thick.

The first five episodes of this half-season were dynamite, freakin' firecrackers.

Of the past three, only one of them has been worth a shit.

Seriously, how many shots are we going to have of:

1. Adama looking at the Galactica/the work crew/shots of Galactica falling apart
2. Tigh sitting around looking haggard

It's like...nothing...is...happening. Except for Boomer escaping, jack shit has happened. Yeah, we got some reveal of the plot but it was in a totally expositionary cram-it-all-in kind of way. If the next episodes were going to be slow as molasses, they could have at least spaced that shit out.

Keeping fingers crossed for a "blow away" finale.

Next week's episode, along with the 2-hour finale, are techincally one 'episode'. In the TV listings online, they are basically part 1, 2, and 3 of the same episode.

Since they'll want to sell a Razor-esque GALACTICA MOVIE FINALE, look for more fireworks and shit happening in general for the next couple of episodes.

Yeah, really...do we need to reinforce YET AGAIN that the ship is falling apart? Jeez. At least the scene with Roslin had some emotional resonance to it, too bad it got ruined by another "let's roll a joint" scene. Just a stupid fan service moment.

Tigh used to be one of my favorites, now he's just boring. He may as well have a pegleg and say "argh" a lot at this point.

And another thing...for a race that hasn't been able to physically reproduce for some 2000 years, there sure are a lot of pregnant Cylons/hybrids/etc. in this show.

The worst crime of all is tht Baltar is practically out of the show at this point except when he shows up for some uneven, sloppily written religious ranting. It was fascinating when his character arc put him in a position where he was essentially driving a phony monotheistic wedge into the show's polytheism and I totally love the Jim Jones/sex cult stuff...but we're lucky if Baltar's in it at all any more and if he is it's so minor it almost doesn't matter.

A show hasn't gone down in flames right before the finish line this gracelessly since X-FILES.

Baltar should have died after the Kobol episodes - his character has had no purpose since. The Jim Jones thing is shit, and really should have been another character. I got no idea where they are going with it and niether does the writers.

This show was best when it was simple - humans on the run from machines run amok. If they were going to start with mysteries and high concept questions then they should have WORKED OUT WHERE IT WAS ALL GOING FROM THE START! Because so far the 'mystery' is ending up being both confusing and boring.

I was behind, so I was worried I'd hit spoilers if I kept reading this thread ... and it turns out that it would have hardly mattered. What a steaming pile of mind-numbing crap this show has become. I caught myself messing around with my DS during the ghost-dad episode. I almost never do stuff like that; when I'm into a show, I don't want any distractions.

It's amazing a great game came out of this mess. Maybe they should let Corey K. write for the show.

So, wait a minute, do I have this right? Friday's episode was actually the first part of the season finale? And the second part (the last actual original episode that will air) is actually going to be two hours long? And that, technically, the writers and the network are referring to all three hours as "one big episode"?

Yikes; I'm on the edge of being a bit confused here. And that's even if I have it correctly.

Yup...that was essentially the build up for a single three-hour episode. Final two hours of the series (until a money-grabbing made-for-Sci-Fi movie comes out) are next week.

Even with a two hour finale, they're going to need to go at a breakneck pace to have any chance of reaching a satisfying conclusion.

No kidding. I was watching Friday's ep going...THEY'RE WASTING TIME ON TRIVIAL FLASHBACKS?!!?

I hope they have some meaning, but jeez, they already had enough to pay off without having to pay off these little flashbacks too.

They *really* could have spaced this out over the past three or four episodes, where mostly jack shit happened.

Sci-Fi just aired a BSG special where Moore essentially stated that they made up the final four in a single brain-storming session when shooting for Season 3 was wrapping up because they came to realize that the Baltar acquittal wouldn't have enough punch for a season finale. (The reason for Tori as a cylon? "we don't know much about her").

They didn't decide on who the fifth was until even later. It wasn't Starbuck because she was the obvious choice. Awesome.

I mean...none of these making-it-up-as-they-went revelations are surprising. But I was surprised to hear Moore admit it.

Only other thing I found interesting from the whole special was that the actor who plays Hot Dog is Edward Olmos' son.
