I just got back from B&N and they had lots of decent stuff on clearance. I picked up 2 Cosmic Encounters, Rattlesnake, 2 Red Novembers, and Masters of Venice. Most of it will end up being trade bait. I left copies of all of these (they had lots). They did have Age of Conan and Titan, and AGOT LGC but none were on sale

....where do you live? Anyone ever see anything like that in L.A. or San Diego?

By me they did have Red November and Cosmic Encounter on sale for 50%. That was a couple of weeks ago. I should go back this or next week and see what they have left.

You should try the 3D pop up board games they have (now on sale) - I heard they were not that good but the concept is fantastic.

IF they have any left next week I'll grab up some of the 3D games for $2 a pop. They looked pretty shot despite their cool concept.

How bout those Lego games? Those drop this week I think.

I have the Knizia Lego game with the pyramid. It's kinda crap, even for kids. I was going to write a review, but figured it wasn't worth it.

I had hoped Knizia would exploit the potential of the bricks to make the game expandable or customizable in interesting ways. He didn't.

The nice thing is that, once your kid is satisfied that the game sucks, it's still useful as Lego.

The report from Tampa: Nothing useful over here. Scrabble and "The Word Game" and a half-opened Imaginiff game.... oh and that X and Y game someone mentioned earlier.

I picked up Haunted Ruins for $7 at a B&N in So. Cal. yesterday. It's a 3D pop-up game with a really cool board and possibly some actual tactics and choices for a kids' game, though it will probably need a house rule or two, regardless. But heck, this kind of game would have been the bomb when I was about 7-8, so I had to get it to play with my girls. They'll love it to play around with, even if the actual game isn't any good.

About six copies of Cosmic Encounter at mine for $15 apiece. I'd get it but I can't justify spending that kind of money on something made out of cardboard.

I got "Beowulf the Movie Game," which I have heard is a steaming pile of crap. However, it has 90 tiles and 102 money like counters, plus a board (single fold) and 40 dudes. Totally worth it for $7.00. I'm using the the money tokens to pimp out some of my older games, and saving the other bits for print and play. I might even go back and get a second copy.

I went back today looking for Rattlesnake just to get the magnets at thirty cents apiece. But all the copies were gone. Gulo Gulo was there but I think my kids are beyond it.

The game it's based on, 'kingdoms', is pretty good for a quick game.

Mine was somewhat successful. I picked up Monster Mayhem for $8.00, and they had a stack left. No CE, but there was one in reserve behind the counter from someone else. Bastard.

I hate Kingdoms, however, last night a couple friends told me they like Kingdoms, and would like me to keep the game intact so that they can try it out.
